Reflection Hunters Contest ~ Round 145 | Reflections of the Lower Pond

Hello, friends.
Today for the Reflection Hunters Contest I want to present reflections in the mirror surface of the Lower Pond, located in the city of Kaliningrad.

The Lower Pond, or its second name, the Lower Lake, has a length of about a kilometer, and a width in various areas from fifty to one hundred meters. The Lower Pond is located in the very center of the city of Kaliningrad; water enters the Lower Pond through a cascade from the Upper Pond. A stream called the Cat Stream flows out of the Lower Pond and flows into the Pregol River. True, you won’t be able to see Cat Stream flows; at the beginning of the 20th century, it was enclosed in a pipe.

The history of the Lower Pond goes back to knightly times. It was created in 1256 by the knights of the Teutonic Order to fill the fortress moats with water and protect the castle of Königsberg. The Lower Pond is the oldest man-made structure in Kaliningrad that has survived to this day.

Currently, there is a green recreational area around the Lower Pond, with pedestrian and bicycle paths. You can take a leisurely stroll along the shore or sit on one of the many benches, watching the ducks and swans swimming in the pond. You can cross from one bank to the other via two pedestrian bridges or by walking around the perimeter of the pond.
