Hello, friends.
Today I will show you a piece of a Siberian village of the late 19th century. We won't even need a time machine. In the village of Shushenskoye, where Vladimir Ulyanov (Lenin) was exiled at the end of the 19th century, there is an ethnographic museum recreating the Siberian village of the late 19th – 20th century.

In July last year, a friend came to see me, with whom we served in the army together in our youth. Getting acquainted with the sights of our region, we visited the Shushenskiy Ethnographic Museum.

In the museum, on the territory of 17.66 hectares, there are peasant houses, official institutions, trading shops and inns located in the village of Shushenskoye by the beginning of the 20th century.

In houses, furniture, dishes, and other items are also made no later than the beginning of the 20th century. In the estates of wealthy peasants there are agricultural machines, in the houses and courtyards of artisans you can see various machines and devices.

Potters, coopers and weavers conduct master classes:

The museum began in the 30s of the last century with one house where Vladimir Ulyanov (Lenin) lived during his Siberian exile. This room, where he lived, has existed unchanged for almost a hundred years.

In the late 60s of the last century, the museum began to expand, the reconstruction of the Siberian village of the early 20th century began. In April 1970, the village museum was opened to visitors.
Now, in addition to the ethnographic museum, there is a complex "New Village" on the territory adjacent to it, with peasant houses and buildings equipped with technologies more than a century ago. In the "New Village" you can live immersed in the life and atmosphere of a Siberian peasant family of the late 19th – early 20th century.
