i took too many photos to post in the ocd shadow hunters event last month so today i am posting a dozen of them now that for one reason or another were not chosen back then
much of the armrest of this bench is horizontal before it curves up at the back of the bench but looking at the shadow alone you might get the impression that the armrest is only slightly curved at the very top and not at all horizontal. oddly enough it makes a nice but surprisingly almost triangular design
this one is a no parking sign mounted in a bracket. the shadow is broken up by reflected sunlight from a nearby house window
this next one is 2 shadows combined. i will let you guess what they are
there are many cafes and restaurants with outdoor seating and some of them are not sectioned off. the customers in this cafe must have been wondering what in the world i was doing with this chair, but i am used to being looked at that way and i don't mind at all
these chairs are placed outside a newly opened art gallery. someday i will go in and see what the are exhibiting, just not yet.
if you have been following the guess the shadows contest you may recognize this pirate ship shadow from a recent one.
and you would be correct to connect this pirates sailboard and the blue rubbery surface here to the same playground
i've shown the patterns on this footbridge before but i include this shadow for one curious detail. what happened to the shadow of the end of the handrail? the handrail clearly extends well past the end post but there is no trace of its shadow.
and speaking of missing shadows, there's more than one thing missing here. you could correctly assume the sun is very low so the shadows of the electricity connection boxes are cast onto the water but what about the post itself. it just doesn't look right.
this is a typical shadow of the street lights in the center of town.
and here i am back home having fun making my own shadows just in case there weren't enough from before.
