Un saludo a la Comunidad de Arquitectura y Diseño, hoy les mostraré una edificación de gran valor histórico en mi ciudad Holguín, les hablo sobre la casa museo natal del Mayor General Calixto García Iñíguez. En esta casa, nació el general de las tres guerras de la independencia de Cuba, también conocido como el león holguinero, debido a su valentía y arrojo que mostró en los combates.
Greetings to the Community of Architecture and Design, today I will show you a building of great historical value in my city Holguin, I am talking about the house-museum where Major General Calixto Garcia Iñiguez was born. In this house, the general of the three wars of the independence of Cuba was born, also known as the lion of Holguin, due to his bravery and courage that he showed in the combats.
Este museo se encuentra ubicado en la esquina de las calles Miró y Frexes, en el centro de la ciudad. La fachada de la vivienda es de 25,5 metros de largo, su construcción es totalmente al estilo colonial, en forma de L, con paredes de mampostería y un techo de tejas, con alfajía y alfardas españolas, mostrando vigas con elementos decorativos. Entre las características arquitectónicas que conserva se encuentran las puertas del siglo XVIII y ventanas con balaustres de madera torneadas.
This museum is located on the corner of Miró and Frexes streets, in the center of the city. The façade of the house is 25.5 meters long, its construction is totally colonial style, L-shaped, with masonry walls and a tile roof, with Spanish alfajía and alfardas, showing beams with decorative elements. Among the architectural characteristics preserved are the 18th century doors and windows with turned wooden balusters.
El inmueble posee varias salas expositivas que repasan la vida del general Calixto García. La dedicada a la familia, posee objetos personales del propio Calixto García y algunos que pertenecieron a su madre y esposa, destacándose las espuelas, cuchara y tintero usados en la guerra del 95. Entre los objetos personales de Lucía su madre, destacan: un camafeo, crucifijo, vitrina esquinero con abanicos, quinqué, mantilla negra y polvera. También se destaca un pilón de café usado por la familia.
The building has several exhibition rooms that review the life of General Calixto García. The one dedicated to the family, has personal objects of Calixto García himself and some that belonged to his mother and wife, highlighting the spurs, spoon and inkwell used in the war of 95. Among the personal objects of Lucia, his mother, stand out: a cameo, crucifix, corner display case with fans, quinqué, black mantilla and powder compactor. There is also a coffee pot used by the family.
Existe un apartado entre las salas expositivas del museo, dedicado a la familia, donde se puede apreciar algunos cuadros en los que aparecen las hermanas de Calixto García, su esposa y 3 de sus hijos varones.

La sala que más me gustó fue la dedicada a las guerras donde se encuentran las armas utilizadas por las tropas del general, los fusiles, revólveres, machetes y el principal: el cañón de artillería utilizado en la toma de la plaza de las Tunas y en el combate Loma de Hierro; llamándome la atención un fusil máuser arrebatado a los españoles.
The room that I liked the most was the one dedicated to the wars where the weapons used by the general's troops, rifles, revolvers, machetes and the main one: the artillery cannon used in the capture of the square of Las Tunas and in the Loma de Hierro combat, catching my attention a Mauser rifle taken from the Spaniards.
Otra de las salas expositivas muestran la mascarilla, esquela mortuoria y la mesa donde fueron velados los restos de Calixto García además de dos imágenes en donde se aprecia la guardia de honor y el entierro militar que se le realizó cuando sus restos fueron trasladados hacía Holguín en el año 1980.

La casa museo, por encontrarse en un lugar céntrico es visitada por turistas y los niños de las escuelas cercanas. Yo aproveche esta visita para llevar a mi hija, y conociera sobre la historia de este inmueble de alto valor histórico. Espero que les haya gustado.
