H. Ahmad Bakrie Mosque in North Sumatra

In one of the districts in North Sumatra province, there is a grand mosque that is also used as a destination for local visitors. Precisely located in Kisaran Regency, the Ahmad Bakrie Mosque is located.

I witnessed for myself how the history of the construction of this mosque was almost canceled in 2013. Before becoming a mosque that invited local tourists, this mosque had various controversies. But now, this mosque has the strongest attraction in Kisaran City. Adjacent to the city park and the square, the Great Mosque of H Ahmad Bakri is very beautiful.

The Great Mosque H Ahmad Bakrie Mosque, Kisaran

The H Ahmad Bakrie mosque building is dominated by a combination of white, green, and golden yellow. This is the distinctive color of the Malays, the majority tribe in Kisaran. The town of Kisaran is located on the coast (though not exactly on the coast), close to Malaysia, where the Malays come from so many Malay people live in Kisaran. That is why the nuances of the H Ahmad Bakrie Grand Mosque have the characteristics of the Malay tribe.

As I said before that before it became a mosque that was very popular with residents, this mosque had some controversy in its construction since 2011. I knew this because my campus was very close to the H Ahmad Bakrie Mosque so I had heard of several issues at the time. One of the most famous is the naming of H Ahmad Bakrie as the name of the mosque. The name was opposed because the name of the mosque was supposed to be taken from a fragment of the name from the Arabic language. However, the initiator and land owner, and builder of the mosque, Aburizal Bakrie wanted to name the mosque in memory of his late father, H Ahmad Bakrie.

That is a glimpse of the story of this great mosque. let's look inside this mosque. The architecture is very distinctive.

  • Interior Design

Different from the color combination in front of the mosque, the interior of the Agung H Ahmad Bakrie mosque has a combination of white, black, and golden yellow that dominates the entire interior. However, there is a touch of green and yellow on some sides as found on some of the pillars.

The Ahmad Bakrie Grand Mosque has a corridor that surrounds the main hall for performing prayers. This corridor has a function for the congregation to carry out other religious activities such as reciting the Koran together. So some visitors can rest without disturbing the congregation who want to carry out worship in the mosque.

It is in the main room for prayer that we can see how the architecture of the H Ahmad Bakrie mosque has adopted the traditional Malay house of North Sumatra. There are several types of Malay Traditional Houses, but the interior design of this mosque is very similar to the North Sumatran Malay Traditional House, precisely the Mandailing Traditional House, the Godang House. Rumah Godang means House of Many. In the original design, Rumah Godang is a house on stilts with a large staircase. This is similar to the design I showed in the photos above, where you can see the stairs leading to the main room of the mosque. The design of the doors and windows also reinforces that the interior design of the H Ahmad Bakrie Grand Mosque adapts to the Mandailing Malay Traditional House.

This is one of the facilities provided at the Great Mosque of H Ahmad Bakrie. An area that resembles a mecca for Muslims can perform the rituals of Hajj, an exercise of the Hajj according to its pillars. In addition to functioning for prospective pilgrims, this area is also used by school students to perform Hajj practices, to know the pillars of the pilgrimage.

This is not an umbrella, but has the same function as the stuff in Mecca. The design of this stuff also resembles the original design even though it's not so similar. However, this stuff is enough to create the same vibe as when you were in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The atmosphere when I visited the H Ahmad Bakrie Grand Mosque was very hot. The range did have hot weather, it was around 31 degrees celsius. So instead of walking around and waiting for the fountain in front of this mosque to light up, my friends and I chose to go home.

In the next visited, I promise to explore more and waiting for the fountain there. Cause it will looks fresh in that weather.

I have so much imagination in my head. Something that I can't achieve as a human and as a girl. So writing is very challenging. Since Junior High School, I have written whatever I want to write. Without skill, I just write what I want to read. Now I have 12th published novels and all of them are romance.

Yeah, I proudly say that I am a passionate author.
