Greetings friends architecture lovers, I start the year greeting you and wishing an excellent year for all in hive because it will be so in 2023 as long as we start with good spirits. That is why on holidays and family days it is a good idea to visit places for recreation with sports, such as the Unidad Deportiva Barrio Cristobal in the Comuna 12 of the Antioquian city of Medellin here in Colombia.
Saludos amigos amantes de la arquitectura, inicio el año saludándolos y deseando un año excelente para todos en hive porque así será el 2023 mientras arranquemos con buen ánimo. Por eso en días festivos y familiares es buena idea visitar lugares para la recreación con el deporte, como la Unidad Deportiva Barrio Cristóbal en la Comuna 12 de la ciudad antioqueña de Medellín aquí en Colombia.
This is a sports park built by INDER (in spanish acronyms), is the Institute of Sports and Recreation of Medellin, is a large architectural work that is among a very natural area of the Comuna 12. It has several entrances, because it is between two streets and where I chose to enter they have put a very nice Christmas decoration that I imagine will be there for a few more days, it is a very original Christmas tree and a manger. Sometimes I think it is curious how Christmas traditions are mixed.
Este es un parque deportivo construido por el INDER, Instituto de Deportes y Recreación de Medellín, es una amplia obra arquitectónica que está entre una zona muy natural de la Comuna 12. Tiene varias entradas, porque está entre dos calles y por donde yo elegí entrar tienen puesta una decoración por la navidad muy bonita que me imagino que estará allí por unos días más, es un arbolo de navidad muy original y un pesebre. A veces pienso que es curioso como se mezclan las tradiciones navideñas.
The Unidad Deportiva Barrio Cristobal is very large, you have to walk a lot, because it has several areas for sports and recreation. You can see courts for basketball, soccer, volleyball, jogging areas, in short for many sports. The courts are covered and there are also outdoor courts.
La Unidad Deportiva Barrio Cristóbal es muy grande, vaya que hay que caminar mucho, porque tiene varias áreas para el deporte y la recreación. Se pueden ver canchas para basquetbol, futbol, voleibol, áreas para correr, en fin para muchos deportes. Las canchas son techadas y también hay al aire libre.
There is a sign indicating the presence of the outdoor gymnasium.
Hay un letrero que indica la presencia del Gimnasio al aire libre.
The exercise machines are in the middle of nature, you will see that there is a lot of vegetation, remember that Medellin is the City of Eternal Spring.
Las máquinas para hacer ejercicios están entre la naturaleza, ya verán que hay mucha vegetación, recuerden que Medellín es la Cuidad de la Eterna Primavera.
Another sign in the park and this one belongs to the synthetic court, which shows the pride of its construction by the Mayor's Office of Medellin in December 2011, that is, it is 11 years old.
Otro letrero en el parque y este pertenece a la Cancha sintética, que demuestra el orgullo de su construcción por parte de la Alcaldía de Medellín en diciembre del año 2011, es decir que tiene 11 años.
The course is getting more and more exciting, look at that skating rink, where in addition to skating you can ride a bike, jog or run. A complete lap around the oval is approximately 300 meters, according to my calculations after running on it. It is not small, maybe not very big either, but it is comfortable enough and I was impressed by the place, it is very nice as you can see.
Cada vez se hace más emocionante el recorrido, miren esa Pista de patinaje, donde además de patinar se puede andar bicicleta, trotar o correr. Dar la vuelta completa al óvalo equivale aproximadamente a 300 mts, de acuerdo a mis cálculos luego de correr en ella. No es pequeña quizás tampoco muy grande, pero es suficientemente cómoda y a mi me impresionó el lugar, es muy agradable como pueden ver.
The children's areas are made of wood and combine very well with the natural environment, although it is necessary to be very careful with their maintenance to avoid accidents. In Medellín it is very common to find children's playgrounds with this cabin style design.
Las Áreas infantiles son en madera y combinan muy bien con el ambiente natural, aunque hay que ser muy cuidadoso con su mantenimiento para evitar accidentes. En Medellín es muy común zonas infantiles con diseños en este estilo tipo cabaña.

For those who like calmer sports there are Chess Tables, it looks like an area for Chess tournaments. Antioquia is an area where national and international Chess tournaments are held, I can imagine the friendly and professional matches on these concrete and granite tables with ceramic board.
Para los que le gusta los deportes más calmados hay Mesas para Ajedrez, se ve que es un área para torneos de este deporte. Antioquia es una zona donde se hacen torneos nacionales e internacionales de Ajedrez, ya me imagino los encuentros amistosos y profesionales sobre estas mesas de concreto y granito con el tablero de cerámica.
There are stairs everywhere because the terrain is very uneven, this is common in Medellín because it is a mountainous area.
Hay escalinatas por todas partes porque es un terreno muy irregular, esto es común en Medellín por ser zona montañosa.
The nature is impressive in this place, there is even a stream and the climate feels cooler, the sounds are also pleasant for the birds because there is a lot of vegetation with small, medium and large trees.
La naturaleza es impresionante en este lugar, hasta pasa un riachuelo y se siente más fresco el clima, los sonidos también son agradables por los pajaritos porque hay mucha vegetación con arbustos pequeños, medianos y arboles grandes.
I saw several models of benches to sit on but I really liked this granite model.
Vi varios modelos de bancas para sentarse pero este modelo de granito me gustó mucho.
At night this place is as pleasant as in the daytime and look at the view of the soccer field and in the distance the lights of the city from this point of the Unidad Deportiva Barrio Cristobal.
De noche este lugar es tan agradable como en el día y miren como se ve el campo de futbol y a lo lejos las luces de la ciudad desde este punto de la Unidad Deportiva Barrio Cristóbal.
