I am an architect by profession, but I am also very interested in the world of industrial design, specifically furniture design.
For the Habanos Expos that take place in Cuba, there is usually a Gala night, in which Luxury Humidors containing some of the most famous Habanos brands in the world are auctioned.
I have been very fortunate to be able to bid for some of my designs at this event and they have been accepted. It is worth mentioning that although these pieces of furniture sell for hundreds of thousands of euros, it is not money that will reach our hands because it is a charity auction for the Cuban Health System.
Below I show you one of these pieces of furniture manufactured by the Caoma Project in Cuba, of which I am part as a designer.
KING OF THE WORLD
Smoking is one of the oldest acts of humanity, dating back thousands of years and has been synonymous with power and hierarchy. This humidor brings together elements from ancient times to the present day.
A very popular model was taken as a reference, which perfectly matches the name of the brand, hence it was reinterpreted to give it a more modern touch and focused on the functionality of housing this brand of Habanos.

It is made up of two fundamental modules: on the right is shown on a scale sphere, the planet Earth with an aged world map carved in low relief completely by hand, giving the sensation of antiquity. It can be opened at its equator, giving access to a cavity that will house Habanos and other smoking accessories. To the left, the other module will consist of a set of drawers.
At the top, a crown adorns the humidor and will serve as a tray. Around this module, a group of balusters guard it like soldiers guarding their King. Both sets will be intertwined by a series of rings highlighted in gold, which suggest the royal treasures found inside and in turn form a tobacco ring.
The base, as a union of both pieces, provides the stability of this brand preferred by many for its high quality and weighted flavor. It will be made with precious woods and will meet the requirements established for the optimum conservation of cigars.
REY DEL MUNDO
Fumar es uno de los actos más antiguos de la humanidad, se remonta a miles de años de antigüedad y ha sido sinónimo de poder y jerarquía. Este humidor aúna elementos que van desde lo antiguo hasta la actualidad.
Se tomó como referencia un modelo bastante popular, que se avenia a la perfección con el nombre de la marca, de ahí que se reinterpretó para darle un matiz más moderno y enfocado en la funcionalidad de albergar esta marca de Habanos.

Conformado por dos módulos fundamentales: a la derecha se muestra en una esfera a escala, el planeta Tierra con un mapamundi envejecido tallado a bajo relieve completamente a mano, dando la sensación de antigüedad. Este podrá ser abierto por su ecuador dando acceso a una cavidad que albergará Habanos y otros accesorios para fumadores. A la izquierda, el otro modulo estará conformado por un conjunto de gavetas.
En lo alto, una corona engalana el humidor y hará las veces de bandeja. Alrededor de este módulo un grupo de balaustres lo resguardan como soldados cuidando de su Rey. Ambos conjuntos estarán entrelazados por una serie de anillos resaltados en dorado, que sugieren los tesoros reales que se encuentran en el interior y a su vez conforman una anilla de tabaco.
La base, como unión de ambas piezas, proporciona la estabilidad de esta marca preferida para muchos por su alta calidad y ponderado sabor. Será elaborado con maderas preciosas y cumplirá los requisitos establecidos para la óptima conservación de los puros.

The piece of furniture obtained a record value for not being one of the most famous Habanos brands and sold for 185 000 euros, which filled us with pride and joy!
