Hello friends. Today by chance I found out about the Architecture and Design community contest which is promoted by @Ocd, and a week ago I went to visit for the first time the Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Mexico City, so I think this is the best opportunity to share some of the many photos I took of that walk.

Hoy por casualidad me enteré del concurso de la Comunidad Arquitectura y Diseño el cual está promocionado por @Ocd, y hace una semana fui por primera vez a visitar la Basílica de la Virgen de Guadalupe en Ciudad de Mexico, así que creo que esta es la mejor oportunidad para compartir algunas de las muchas fotos que tomé de ese paseo.
New Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe
The Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe is the most important temple in Mexico and the second most visited in the world. The amount of people that visit this sanctuary every year is impressive, that is why it represents a social and cultural symbol of Catholicism.
La Basílica de la Virgen De Guadalupe, es el templo más importante de Mexico y el segundo más visitado del mundo. La cantidad de gente que visita este santuario cada año es impresionante, por eso representa un símbolo social y cultural del catolicismo.
Panoramic view of the Basilica
The New Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe was built in 1976 and has an area of 10,000 square meters. Its construction was ordered mainly to allow access to more pilgrims and because the instability of the old temple constituted a danger for visitors. This new temple was built with reinforced concrete for the structure and copper sheets for the roof. The construction was circular and free of supports in order to accommodate the largest number of parishioners. surce
La Nueva Basílica de la Virgen de Guadalupe fue construída en 1976 y tiene un área de 10mil metros cuadrados, se ordenó su construcción principalmente para permitir el acceso de más cantidad de peregrinos y porque la inestabilidad del antiguo templo constituía un peligro para los visitantes. Este nuevo Templo fue construido con hormigón armado para la estructura y con láminas de cobre para la cubierta. La construcción se hizo en forma circular y libre de apoyos con el fin de albergar al mayor número de feligreses. surce
Ancient Basilica now, Expiatory Temple
The Antigua Basilica has an impressive architectural design and although we were not able to appreciate its interior from the outside, it looks imposing. At the beginning of the 19th century its architectural design had to be repaired which caused it to lose its Baroque style and was replaced by the Neoclassical.
La Antigua Basílica tiene un diseño arquitectónico impresionante y aunque no pudimos apreciar su interior por fuera se ve imponente. A principios del siglo XIX su diseño arquitectónico tuvo que ser reparado lo que provoco que perdiera su estilo Barroco y fuera reemplazado por el Neoclásico.
Expiatory Temple and Capuchinas Convent
In this picture above, you can see the Old Basilica and a convent next to it and of course the line of devotees who want to enter the new sanctuary of the virgin.
Apart from the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Guadalupe, here you can visit the Old Basilica which is now a Temple, but its access is very limited because its structure is already very unstable and has been damaged by the last earthquakes in the city. There is also a museum, several chapels, a cemetery that is known as the oldest cemetery in the city.
En esta imagen de arriba, se puede apreciar La Antigua Basílica y un convento al lado y por supuesto la fila de devotos que quieren ingresar al nuevo santuario de la virgen.
Aparte del Santuario de la Virgen de Guadalupe, aquí se pueden visitar la Antigua Basílica que ahora es un Templo, pero que su acceso es muy limitado debido a que su estructura ya es muy inestable y ha sufrido daños con los últimos terremotos en la ciudad. También se encuentra un museo, varias capillas, un panteón que es conocido como el cementerio más antiguo de la ciudad.

Another of the areas that can be visited in this enclosure are the gardens, they are truly beautiful and very well kept, in them you can see many statues and monuments as well as several fountains, there are also places to eat and cool off with delicious cold drinks.
Otra de las áreas que se pueden visitar en este recinto sonsees jardines, son verdaderamente hermosos y muy bien cuidados, en ellos se pueden observar muchas estatuas y monumentos así como varias fuentes, también hay lugares para comer y refrescarse con ricas bebidas frías.

I am honestly not a religious person, but these places fascinate me because of the history they hold and their ancient architecture and interior design.
Honestamente no soy una persona religiosa, pero estos lugares me fascinan por la historia que guardan y por su antigua arquitectura e interiorismo.
