The splendor of the Maimon Palace: historical heritage of Malays in Medan.

Hi, good evening, all HIVE friends in this great community, today I will still be posting and sharing stories about the Ramadhan fasting activities that I went through this year. Ramadan fasting in Indonesia has its own sundries, I don't know what are the customs of the people in your country? However, in Indonesia, where the majority of the population is Muslim, Ramadhan fasting has its own story that never occurs during other months. This month of Ramadan, usually every evening a few hours before breaking the fast, starting from 16.00 WIB to 18.00 WIB, many people come from various regions to just walk around spending time with their family and looking for food to break the fast which we call with TA'JIL.

Not only the community, we both also feel the same euphoria as the others, and today my husband and I are going to take a walk to the city of Medan, 45 minutes of travel time from my house to this city of Medan. And today we will visit one of the magnificent buildings that have historical value in the city of Medan. This building is the MAIMON Palace. Maimon Palace is the palace of the king of Deli which has an extensive history where the Malay tribe has its own role in the development of Islam in Indonesia.

When I set foot at Maimoon Palace, it was already showing 17.00 WIB, it was very late in the evening, but the sun was still high and not too dim. Even so, we are no longer able to enter Mimon Palace and show you what is inside this palace, because it is already evening and ticket purchases are also closed. I have visited this Maimoon Palace several times. In fact, inside the Maimon Palace, there are no memorable relics, we will only find antique chairs and various family tree photos of the royal family there. And in this Maimoon Palace we can rent traditional Malay clothing and pose in the King's Chair Reflika, and that is a piece of the story when we entered this Maiomon Palace, and it's a shame I can't show it to you.

At first glance, this Maimoon palace building looks like the Raya mosque that I posted before. That is true, in terms of distance, the Maimon Palace is only 2 kilometers from the Grand Almatsun Mosque in Medan. However, if you look at it as a whole, it is still different, the Front Design of the Maimonn Palace is indeed made almost similar to a mosque, this is because this Maimon's palace is a symbol that Islam is growing rapidly in North Sumatra Province, especially Medan City in the Kingdom of Deli.

The color of the Maimon Palace is dominantly yellow which is identical to the Malay tribe. The splendor of the Maimoon Palace can be seen when we enter the palace gates, the palace courtyard which is very wide, the architectural design that shows the age of the building and the roofs of the palace which we have rarely encountered today. The decorations that show the age of the palace are very much preserved, but it doesn't become eerie because this building is very well cared for by the palace administrators. And you need to know that until now the descendants of kings and queens still live in this palace, and we can see this from the buildings of Maimon's palace. The ceiling of the roof of the Maimon Palace is also still made of wood with premium quality, of course, and I don't know what type of wood this is, but from the inception of this palace until now there has been no overhaul in the palace pavilion so I believe that only with these materials the best materials this building can survive until now.

The carvings on the Palace building also have high historical value where the amalgamation of Malay ethnic groups and the spread of Islam is narrated in various forms of symbols accompanying each palace building. Then the ceramics in this palace, even though they have an old style, still really show the value of the building, that this building deserves to be called a palace.

What do you think about this building? Keep following our next posts and greetings from us, Tomi and Maya from the city of Binjai, Indonesia.
