A different kind of weekend [en/esp]

Between so much work I had a very relaxing weekend for me, full of sun and beach. Actually there was not so much sun, as there usually is on this side of the world during the summer season, because now we are in the winter months. But I think that in the best resort that Cuba has, the phrase that says that here "summer is eternal" is always true.
I was able to visit the Meliá Peninsula Hotel, located in Varadero. The stay was short, since I arrived on Saturday and returned on Sunday; but I was able to relax from all the activity of the last few weeks, and to take several pictures of the building, which has a very beautiful architecture.

Entre tanto trabajo tuve un fin de semana muy relajante para mí, lleno de sol y playa. Realmente no había tanto sol, como suele haber de este lado del mundo durante la etapa estival, porque ahora estamos en los meses de invierno. Pero creo que en el mejor balneario que tiene Cuba, siempre se cumple la frase que dice que aquí “el verano es eterno”.
Y es que pude visitar el hotel Meliá Península, ubicado en Varadero. La estancia fue corta, pues llegué el sábado y el domingo fue el regreso; pero alcancé a relajarme de toda la actividad de las últimas semanas, y a tomar varias fotos del inmueble, que tiene una arquitectura muy bonita.

Actually, when I planned my weekend in that place I was motivated by the enthusiasm I felt when I saw a picture of the pool, but nothing compared to appreciating it "live", with a blue as intense as the sky, and adorned with several bright green palm trees.

Realmente cuando planifiqué mi fin de semana en ese lugar estuve motivada por el entusiasmo que me provocó ver una foto de la piscina, pero nada comparado a apreciarla "en vivo", con un azul tan intenso como el del cielo, y adornado con varias palmeras de un verde brillante.

From the moment I arrived I was impressed by the lobby area, which is very spacious and illuminated because its ceiling is made of glass and allows natural light to enter. The furniture is made of resin, which makes it ideal to withstand inclement weather, easy to clean and durable. The sets consist of 2 or 3-capacity sofas with large blue and carmelite cushions, and a low coffee table. The paint on walls and columns is beige, combined with white.

Desde que llegué me impresionó el área del lobby, que es muy amplia e iluminada porque su techo es de cristal y permite que entre la luz natural. El mobiliario está fabricado en resina, lo que lo hace ideal para resistir las inclemencias del clima, fácil de limpiar y duradero. Los conjuntos están compuestos por sofás de 2 o 3 capacidades con grandes cojines de color azul y carmelita, y una mesa baja de centro. La pintura en paredes y columnas es de color beige, combinado con blanco.

In the center it has a very singular structure, with three black metallic lamps at different levels on a granite base.

En el centro tiene una estructura muy singular, con tres lámparas negras metálicas a diferentes niveles sobre una base de granito.

The residential blocks are 3-story, with balconies of white grilles that invite you to sit and enjoy the breeze of the area. The doors of these balconies are made of glass, which I think is ideal because it allows to take advantage of the light in the rooms.

Los bloques habitacionales son de 3 pisos, con balcones de rejas blancas que invitan a sentarse a disfrutar de la brisa de la zona. Las puertas de estos balcones son de cristal, que me parece ideal porque permite aprovechar la luz en los cuartos.

I really liked the shelf they have before reaching the buffet, inside it has some rocks that they have placed as decoration to make it look natural, and it is divided by a small bridge between the snack bar and the restaurant.

Me gustó mucho el estante que tienen antes de llegar al buffet, dentro tiene algunas rocas que han ubicado como decoración para que parezca natural, y el mismo está dividido por un pequeño puente entre el snack bar y el restaurante.

On Saturday afternoon I was able to walk around the hotel for a while, before my swim in the sea. I even walked barefoot on the grass to connect with nature. On my walk I was able to find a white wedding arch, which as the elders say, symbolizes the couple's future home. I later learned that they also offer a wedding service, and I imagine that many clients choose this place to celebrate the ceremony.

En la tarde del sábado pude caminar un buen rato por todo el hotel, antes de mi baño en el mar. Incluso anduve descalza por la hierba para conectar con la naturaleza. En mi paseo pude encontrar un arco para bodas blanco, que como dicen los mayores, simboliza el futuro hogar de la pareja. Luego supe que también ofrecen el servicio de bodas, e imagino que muchos clientes elijan ese sitio para celebrar la ceremonia.

I also saw other decorative structures that I thought were very nice.

También vi otras estructuras decorativas que me parecieron muy bonitas.

In the evening my dinner was at the hotel's Japanese restaurant called Sakura, which has a very simple setting with round lamps, a decorative structure on the bamboo ceiling and black marble tables. There I could only take a picture because the show cooking started right away and my eyes were focused on the sushi dishes I was able to taste.

En la noche mi cena fue en el restaurante japonés del hotel llamado Sakura, que tiene una ambientación muy sencilla con lámparas redondas, una estructura decorativa en el techo de bambú y las mesas de mármol negro. Ahí solo pude tomar una foto porque enseguida comenzó el show cooking y mi vista se concentró en los platos de sushi que pude degustar.

Cuando salí del restaurante, quedé atraída por la combinación de las luces del hotel y el cielo, ya a esa hora de un azul más oscuro.
