Garage Findings & My Sunday

Hello friends and Hivians. Oh the heat has been on here lately. Fornately starting today it's suppose to cool down. This past Sunday was a hot busy day for me. Today I tell you a bit about my Sunday and what I came across cleaning out my garage.

I woke up pretty early and started the day out with a cup of coffee. I hung around inside the house for awhile waiting for a good time to start some yard work. I'd start as soon as I can see outside but I have to respect any neighbors that may be sleeping.

Start time was around 9:00 a.m. and I realized I could of started earlier because I still had some tree debris in the front and back yards I raked up. On Wednesday we had a severe wind storm. I got most of the debris picked up after the storm had passed that day. So there wasn't a lot to pick up just leaves and small twigs. I have a pile of about the same amount behind my fence in the backyard which I will utilize as firewood.

Mowing took about two hours to complete. I did my front yard, back yard and an area behind my fence line. I even brought out Mr. Weed Wacker so I did basically everything except for edging the yard near the driveway and sidewalk. Another time for that 😁

After I finished mowing surprisingly I had some energy left. Despite it being a day that hovered near and above 38° C I decided it would be a good idea to clean out the garage. I won't be showing before and after pictures but I will share some of the surprises and things I found. Now I do have a boat and an older Chevy truck which both have more or less turned into storage containers. Most of the things I will share were found and discovered in them.

These are items I used and when I returned home I left them in the garage. I have a man cave in my basement where I store all my fishing gear. These just were on vacation and never made it back to the proper places. They weren't gone all that long. The ice fishing pole was last used in February and the box of plastic lures sometime last fall. They have now returned home!

I found this about a year too late. This was misplaced by someone who last walked the dog with it. There was a great search for this item. Spent hours in the house looking for it and sometime in the garage as well. In the end I had to buy another one. I guess we now have a spare 😁

So these are mess kits that I acquired many years ago. I knew where one of them was at but somehow the other got separated from the other. I've decided to move quite a bit of camping gear inside in the Man Cave. It will really free up quite a bit of space in the garage. This includes other items such sleeping bags, Coleman camp stove, lanterns and a few others.

Tools seem to not always make there way back to where they are stored. This a rather small collection of them that didn't make it back. I wish I could say that about some tools that are inside the house. Anyways...

What you see above are 6 reflective belts. I sometimes work irregular hours and during darkness I'm required to wear when I'm performing duties outside. I often go through the garage when entering my house. So I guess I've taken these belt off a few times before going inside. It's all good all have been returned back to work, haha. They have nothing on the amount of pens I have accumulated ðŸĪŠ

What you see above is a CamelBack. It's a device you wear like a back pack that stores water for on the go. It's got a drinking tube so you can drink from it while wearing it. I think I used this last summer maybe the summer before on one of my fishing outings. It's still in good serviceable condition. Just needs a little cleaning. Since I found it, to I will probably use it very soon.

I found this coin in a bin I went through. To be completely honest I didn't even know I had it. It's a gambling coin from Blackbird Bend casino. I remember going there some 15 years ago (I think) and playing some blackjack. I also remember not doing so well but hey at least I have a souvenir 😂 This has now made it's way to a small coin collection I have.

A few months back a co-worker of mine mentioned how he wanted to get one of his kids into karate. At the time I told him I would look for some gear that my son has grown out of. I also had some striking and blocking pads. I ended up finding it buried in the truck bed under some other things. It's now with the new owner and a happy kid 😁

I must have spent a good six hours cleaning and reorganizing my garage. I filled up a recycle bin of mostly cardboard and had about a half dozen tall kitchen bags of trash. I also have some items that I will donate such as some throw blankets, jackets, clothes and even a small dog kennel. Another thing is I have some scrap metal that I can take in and get a few bucks. Also a good amount of useless stuff I will take to the dump. Now it feels good to have somewhat of organized and clean garage. I'm glad I did it even though I definitely sweated my pores out. It's nice to find things and have a plan to put them back into use.

Take care, stay safe and have a great rest of your week. Until next time!
