Daily Blog: Are You an Early Bird or a Night Owl?

I recently read something from a magazine at the barbershop about chronotype. I went to this barbershop when I saw a bundle of magazine from the chair.

I suddenly had random thoughts, “Oh there are still magazines until today?” It's good old days when seeing magazine is just a casual experience 10 years ago. I remember having these at our house for some unknown reasons. It's just today when I realized its importance. I thought it was only a published paper having fancy colors and pictures with creative designs.

No one was touching it from the side. So I took one of it and tried reading it. The one that I picked has a cover page “Why consuming too much sugar is bad for your health”.

I opened the magazine and read some of its content. One topic that hooked my attention is about chronotype. It is something that indicates when your body tends to sleep.

Have you asked yourself if you are an early bird or a night owl? There is always a misconception about this; people loves comparing about early birds are better than night owls, but I think it's just a misconception.

You see, early birds usually sleep early so they can wake up early and work immediately in the morning. They are more productive in the morning, so people who are early birds are more active in school. This is one of the downsides of being a night owl. If you are a student and a night owl at the same time, I am sure you are always sleep-deprived and not that active when it comes to school activity.

This is because your body is more effective and producing at night and needs a rest during the day. Since everyone is more favor in being an early bird where most schedules are in the morning, it is a bit unfair for night owls. Sadly, according from the magazine, there is no sure way for you to change your chronotype because it is influenced by your age, genes, geographic location, and other factors.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

After knowing about this information, I was thinking: what is my chronotype? Am I an early bird or a night owl?

Even though I already know about its definition, I still don't know how to answer this question. But I feel that working and studying at night is more effective on my side but I am always lack of sleep since I have to go to school in the morning and can't sleep properly.

Since I am forced to work in the morning, I always feel sleepy at night, but can't sleep immediately so I always sleep late and end up in being sleepy in both day and night. I think this is really the disadvantage of being a night owl, you don't have the freedom to work at your own time.

Anyway, this is just a random blog that I wrote while waiting from the barbershop. As of writing, I am still waiting for my turn and I can say that at least, my time was used productively after writing this blog.
