The Spinning Squirrel on the Suet

Grey squirrels are regular visitors to bird tables and feeders, so it was no surprise to see a squirrel in the tree with its eye on the suet left for the birds.

Squirrels are omnivores, so they will eat an assortment of things, including plants, insects, birds' eggs, and suet. Squirrels sometimes can't get enough food during the winter months, so they hide food to get them through the bleaker times.

The squirrel came a little closer, and when the coast was clear, it managed to jump on the string and made its way down to the suet, which looked a bit mouldy, though, because of the rain.

The suet, in turn, kept spinning around and around like a fairground ride, but the squirrel hung on to its prize.

The squirrel finally steadied itself to have a nibble at the suet. It was well worth the effort and it was cute to watch.
