Searching for Seaweed at Baiter Park in Poole, Dorset

During my stay with a friend in Dorset, we decided to visit Baiter Park, a waterside area in Poole to collect some seaweed. My friend had recently learned about the health properties of seaweed baths and wanted to collect some seaweed for herself. Seaweed is supposed to be good for skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and acne etc.

As we walked along the beach, we were pleased by the amount of seaweed that had been washed up on the shore, so there was plenty to pick up.

We noticed that a lot of the seaweed was attached to stones, making it easier for us to pick up. As seaweed doesn't have roots it just attaches to the stones and rocks lying on the beach. It was interesting to see the different types of seaweed as they had different textures and colours.

Even my friend's dog joined in on the fun, although he was more interested in digging holes in the sand.

While we were on the beach, we spotted oyster catchers and terns at the edge of the shore.

In the distance, some jet ski enthusiasts had just come in from zooming back and forth in the water.

We managed to collect four bags of seaweed. This will be enough for about 8 baths. I might just try it myself.
