Yearly milestones; How I make the most of it

The beginning of a new year is usually marked with celebrations and festivities. From Christmas to new year celebrations, beginning the year is always marked with hopeful new beginnings, optimism and revamped energies. We are filled with hope of all that is possible, and in those moments, we are conditioned to think we are definitely going to fulfil all the goals and tasks we have set out fir ourselves moving forward.

In most cases, however, reality soon beckons and we are quickly reminded if hiw much work, willpower nad discipline we actually need to put behind our goals to push them into reality.

The first half of 2024 has certainly been both good and not-so-good to me. Things have happened in my favor and other ls not soo in my favor. I honestly cannot complain. I have had just about the right mixture of good and bad to remain fully functional 😂. As far as my goals go, I made a list of goals to achieve at the beginning of the year. Most of my goals span the whole year and I am currently actively pursuing them. Though I think it is worth pointing out that along the line some goals we set for ourselves tend to fall off completely due to our changing circumstances while Others take on new forms.

As far as achievements for this year goes, My team and I entered the Kosmos Innovation Center Agritech Build Up Challenge and won a grant to start an online marketing platform and delivery service to serve farm inputs for farmers. This was not really among my goals at the beginning of the year but it worked out pretty well. Though I would like to point out that, as far as pursuing my goals are concerned, I find more pleasure in the process/journey required to achieve the goal. And I always celebrate the fact that I haven’t given up on my goals abd always finding the motivation to pursue them.

The saddest thing that happened to ke this year would be the loss of my great uncle. He was like a father to me. Losing him has had its toll on me, my life. I soon realised just how much if an important role he played in my life soon after his passing. May his gentle soul rest in peace. A lot if goals I set soans the whole year abd even to the next. The plan is to keep working on those goals.

One of my major goals for the year is to finish my software engineering training at ALX. A 9-month training in full stack software engineering and a 3-month specialisation in either front-end or back-end development. I started getting to the end of last year and will pushing theough to graduate by the end of this year

All in all, as far as goals are concerned, I have learnt that the best way to achieve any goal is to put in place a “system “ to support the habits necessary to accomplish the goal. For example, if your goal is to exercise more ir keep fit, your “system” could be making sure you make time to pursue it. That would mean waking up earlier than usual to make the extra time for it. It could be taking the necessary precautions to make that goal easier , mire obvious and more satisfying.

Placing your gym equipment in the centre of your living room so tha you are always reminded. Reward yourself when you meet some of your milestones. These are just small ways I go about my goals. Thanks for reading.
