The Neighbors: A Blessing or a Curse?

As students, living off campus, I've all had this constant lifestyle which is moving into a new apartment with the hope in my heart to have decent neighbors who won't drive me crazy. Some of us are lucky enough to find friendly neighbors who become like a second family, while others... Well, just say it's a miracle I survived the semester without losing our minds because it is very difficult to live close to someone you don't know, they have their own attitude and home training sometimes their belief system is different from yours.

Personally, I've had my experience with the good neighbor and the crazy ones both. In my first year in school, I had a neighbor who happened to be a young guy studying music. Everyday he will always play music with his mp3 box from night till the early hours of the morning. The noise from the music makes me feel so uncomfortable, it is impossible for me to study or sleep during these hours. I love music but his genres are not my kind of music so I find it so hard to vibrate. It was like living in a nightclub. He was so in love with pop music. But then, I moved to a new and more sustainable apartment and there I found new neighbors who were not only quiet but also friendly and helpful. We'd often borrow sugar, and Garri. Those of us from Nigeria can relate better 😁😁😁 as a student you will always have to have garri as one of the most important groceries. We even used to have impromptu study sessions together.

Having good neighbors can make a huge difference in our lives, especially as students. There is this oneness you feel when you keep in touch with each other and share things together, for instance there are day you go out for studies and you washed your clothes and hang them outside and then rain decided to fall, good and caring neighbors will help you packed them while some will just feel reluctant because it's not theirs, I still remember a day I was very sick and couldn't move my legs, it was my neighbor who took care of me, they had to go get me some drugs and make sure I ate something. a good neighbor can provide a sense of community and give support which is very good for our mental and emotional health. On the other hand if you become so unfortunate to live with bad people they can make your life hell, which can cause you stress and anxiety that can hinder your academic performance.

I know a lot of us if given the opportunity to choose the kind of neighbors we want we will do and we will go for the best. I know some of us will go for neighbors who are more considerate and friendly while there are people who can tolerate people's excesses and it doesn't affect them at all. This set of people have learned to appreciate their neighbors' quirks and wouldn't change them for the world.

As for me, I'm grateful for my current apartment and the lovely neighbors here, they have become like a second family to me. Some of them I have brought to hive blockchain as a token of love I have for them and my own little impact in their lives may not be perfect, but we look out for each other, we are a team here on hive and it is so beautiful to have people who wants to learn grow in the crypto space being each others support and what matters to us

In conclusion, having a neighbor can either be a blessing or a curse, depending on how we treat them and the way they treat us. While some of us may not be lucky enough to have the perfect neighbors, we can still try to make the best of the situation. Who knows, we might even find a lifelong friend in the process.
