Sunday Run: Just a short one

Another lovely morning and I needed to get out for a run. For a change I started off running up the hill behind our house. That has the advantage of being away from the main road for a while. I was not really sure where I wanted to go, so the run was improvised. I went around some back streets I am not sure I have run before.

Route

I was heading south and just kept going to the cemetery at the end of the village. Behind that is the memorial garden for those who died in World War I. Since I last went there they have added a concrete path so it is wheelchair accessible. It is a quiet place to contemplate things, as long as there are no trains running past.

I headed back north from there and by the football club I took the track that leads to the Blue Lagoon sailing lake. I found a path leading off that. It was quite overgrown with lots of nettles, so I took that at a walk to avoid being stung. I was not sure where it would come out, but it led me past some horses and then a couple of sheep in a field by the main street. I was thinking I could have gone up to Fairfield that way, but I think I needed to go further up the road to do that. I will try that another time.

Sheep

I headed home from there with another diversion around the back streets near home. It was a shorter run than I might normally do on a Sunday, but my sore ribs were hurting a bit and it felt like enough. Although Arlesey is not very big there is a lot to explore around here. I keep finding new tracks.

Run free and stay well.
