A 200 Metre Hobble, Rainbow, and a Coastal Sunrise

Well this morning didn’t go to plan, definitely not the way I had played it out in my head all week.

Headed out to the beautiful Sandgate bright and early to warm up, and participate in their always popular Saturday parkrun.

I’ve been going well lately, building steadily and trying not to overdo it at the same time.. cue the debilitating injury.

I’ve felt a little tightness present the last few mornings in my Achilles/lower calf. Thought it may have been climbing all the extra stairs at work lately.

Rested for a few days, but after a short hobble down the waterfront it became pretty clear that it was more serious than I initially suspected. A 200 metre hobble, that my grandma on her zimmer-frame would probably beat.

It’s pretty disheartening when this happens, and unfortunately it is what it is.

However I was able to enjoy the sun rising and trying to emerge through the cloud cover, as I made a limp back towards the car.

And when I arrived at the car, I was even blessed with a rainbow that appeared right where I was parked.. and it disappeared not long after I arrived. Something I wouldn’t have seen otherwise.

The sunrise, and calmness of the waterfront helped cure the initial disappointment. I decided to the ditch the running shoes, and head to my local gym instead sneaking in an upper body workout.

Wasn’t how I envisioned my morning, but at the end of the day that’s about all you can do.. the caffeine helps too 😉
