No Doubt !! history and hits 🎙American rock band.

biography

No Doubt is formed in 1986, thanks to vocalist John Spence, who is joined by keyboardist Eric Stefani and his sister and vocalist Gwen. Initially it is a ska band, although they play a variety of musical styles.

After playing at parties and meetings, No Doubt participates in a concert with other groups in Long Beach, California. After this concert, bassist Tony Kanal joins the band, who also assumes the duties of manager.

John Spence, the pioneer of the group, commits suicide of a gunshot a few days before the concert that was going to be the presentation concert of No Doubt in the Roxy of Hollywood. The group cancels the show and takes a break to decide their future. Finally they decide to continue with the No Doubt project.

In 1989 guitarist Tom Dumont and drummer Adrian Young join the band. In this way, the group is completed. In 1991, No Doubt signs a contract with Interscope Records.

While finishing their studies, the members of No Doubt took some time to go to Los Angeles to record what would be their first album, a work with 14 songs that appears published in 1992 under the title of "No Doubt", of which only 30,000 copies are sold.

In 1993 No Doubt began recording what would later become their album "Tragic Kingdom". At that time, Eric Stefani leaves the group to enter as an animator in the cartoon series The Simpsons. At the same time, his sister Gwen and Tony abandon their relationship that had lasted several years.

But No Doubt continues and the fans of the group asked them for more songs. For that reason they shut themselves up in the recording studios and soon after they publish "Beacon Street Collection", an album with 10 new songs and of which they manage to sell 100.000 copies.

In 1995 "Tragic Kingdom" is finally published, an album in which they mix different styles, such as ska, new wave, pop, punk and rock. The album turned out to be a smash hit, with songs like "Just a Girl", "Spiderwebs" or "Don't Speak", which quickly rose to the top of the charts. With "Tragic Kingdom", No Doubt are nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album and Best New Group. In addition, the video for "Don't Speak" wins MTV's Best Group Video award. During this period, Gwen changes her hairstyle and hair color, becoming one of the queens of pop, with millions of imitators around the world.

No Doubt participates in a world tour that takes them to tour, among other places, Europe, Asia and a large part of South America, while "Tragic Kingdom" reaches a sales record of 15 million copies worldwide.

In 1998 they begin to compose the songs of what would be their next album, which they would publish in the year 2000, with the title of "Return of Saturn", an album with 14 new songs that, although it does not reach the level of sales of the previous one, it cannot be considered of inferior quality.

At the end of 2001 No Doubt publishes "Rock Steady", whose first single and promotional video, "Hey Baby", appears in all the radio stations and on MTV.

In 2003 they publish "The Singles 1992-2003", a compilation album of their best songs, which also includes a version of the song "It's My Life" by Talk Talk.
