Extreme is a rock group that reached the peak of success with the release of the album Extreme II: Pornograffitti, year 1990, from which the most exciting ballad I've heard More Than Words is extracted. , together with the track Through Her Eyes by Dream Theater.

The song has as its only arrangement the acoustic guitar of Nuno Bettencourt and the passionate voice of Gary Cherone, accompanied in some sections by Nuno. Whenever I listen to it, I honestly feel a little nostalgia because as a young man I used to listen to it with a small group of friends, when we used to gather at home to play together.
The score is not at all easy to learn but the arpeggio is really fantastic, exciting to play and prohibitive for me to sing at the same time. The final solo is quite complex because it requires the mastery of a particular technique called tapping which consists in pressing with the fingers of the rhythmic hand one or more distant note notes, generally used to play very wide intervals, otherwise very difficult to perform.
The song had such an influence on my teenage life that it was one of the songs performed during my marriage, the second ballad ever after Through Your Eyes. If you are not a rock music lover, and you don't know the song mentioned, you should try to listen to it with your eyes closed, it continues to be an absolutely modern song despite being 30 years old. Needless to tell you that while I write this post, I am listening to the song on a loop.
More Then Words has been at the top of the charts all over the world and is today among the most appreciated covers by many international artists such as Aerosmith for example but also a very well done caricature of Jimmy Fallon & Jack Black.
