When one evening a woman was found raped in Central Park, USA, the police began to arrest anyone they found in the area as a suspect. Five teenagers were brought to the police station and interrogated. The police are sure that they are involved in the crime in one way or another. Gangs of such blacks often go wild 'wilding' there, a young white woman is never safe among them.
There were 3,400+ rape cases in the United States that year, so the law is even stricter, with Linda Fairstein, a female detective working in a tougher case. According to his commentary, we have caught this gang of wolves when we have to find out what is going on inside them. It is also a crime not to protest after seeing the crime. Someone led them! What happened to the girl? How did you do the rape? 5 people were interrogated separately to find out.
But from the beginning of the episode, we see their simple lives, which is impossible to believe that they raped a woman. Some 13, 14, 15-year-old children!
So When They See Us is not a murder mystery. Nor is it a crime thriller. This is a true-crime tragedy that has been and will continue to be a black mark on the American system of governance since 1989! Parents will be reluctant to let their teenage children walk around the park alone! It cannot be said if the police caught him in the wrong place at the wrong time. If the name is on the black book of the police, absolutely caught for life!
But they are all obedient children of a good family. Someone may have gone to the park for the first time that day. Someone was waiting for his girlfriend. Seeing that someone was taking his friend to the police station, he went to accompany him!
Directed by Eva Duvarni, the 4-episode series is almost like a 5-hour movie, presented almost vividly with the great performances of everyone involved. Not just one of the best miniseries of 2019,

It won two Emmy awards and a lot of nominations, losing to Chernobyl in most categories. The same year Netflix brought another great crime drama - Unbelievable, which I watched immediately. I was watching a lot of African American movies at that time. But after watching it, it seems now that Chernobyl-like gossip should have happened to it as well. However, the series is ranked 36th in the #TopRatedTVShowsofalltime list on IMDB.
It was part of the history of police brutality on blacks, failure of rule of law, huge sacrifices of innocents. I was in a very bad mood when I saw it, I was amazed that the abuse of power could be so unfair on innocent people! In 1979, Donald Trump was advertising at a cost of about 69,000, demanding that these rapists be executed! It is said that that push acted as an influencer in that heinous crime of the judiciary. Even today this infamous president has not apologized.
There was a documentary called The Central Park Five in 2012, the first two episodes of the series inspired by the interrogation and the courtroom drummer, respectively. Episode 3 - Consequences. Episode 4 Life in prison. Since this is true, many may know what happened to them, but it would not be a spoiler. Yet you will have fun sitting and watching without knowing. The word "fun" is not correct. It should be said that it will be a heartbreaking experience. After watching the series in a very helpless and frustrated state, I forgot my own suffering and seeing their suffering.
After the speed of the 1st and 2nd episodes, the speed decreases in the 3rd episode. After a bit longer and more conventional, the last episode is a bit different. Gerard Harris of Chernobyl lost the episode that won the Best Actor award at the Young Gerald Jerome Emmy for his performance. The rating of that great episode is 9.6.
There is a sex scene in the 3rd episode, besides, various descriptions of rape come up throughout the series, so Netflix gave it an 18+ certificate. Thus the series is 15 +, 18 +. There is violence.
After watching, you will want to see 5 young people in real life, you will find their confession tapes on YouTube, which is also in that documentary. Not a series to watch again and again, but awesome!
