For those of us who have lived our childhood, adolescence and youth in different countries, with different cultures and in a completely different environment, it is sometimes difficult to establish parallels.
But memories always remain. And I appeal to them to transmit them in this post.
I was born in Argentina but since I was a child, as a consequence of the convulsed and chaotic political and economic situation in my country, my parents decided to move to Europe (specifically Italy) where my grandparents are originally from.

Pero los recuerdos siempre quedan. Y a ellos me apelo para poder transmitirlos en este post.

In between were my adolescent experiences in Italian lands, in places that I remember with nostalgia not few times because of their natural beauty.
Part of my adolescence was spent in San Antíoco, which is actually an island next to the mainland of another island: Sardinia, very popular in Italy for the summer season.
It is the destination of more than half of the Italians (and foreigners) who love the sea. Very white sandy beaches. And a rather quiet natural environment.
En el medio quedaron mis vivencias de adolescente en tierras italianas, en lugares que por su hermosura natural recuerdo con nostalgia no pocas veces.
Una parte de mi adolescencia la pasé en San Antíoco que en realidad una isla pegada a la tierra firme de otra isla: Cerdeña, muy popular en Italia por la temporada veraniega. Es la meta de más de la mitad de los italianos (y extranjeros) que adoran el mar. Playas de arena muy blanca. Y un entorno natural bastante tranquilo.
Some beaches in Sardinia have nothing to envy to the beaches of the Caribbean.
They are true paradises that seem tropical. And yet they are not. They are located in the extreme south of Italy and are unique in Europe. Perhaps only comparable to the beaches of Tenerife and others of the Balearic Islands.
And San Antioco is one of them. It was a Phoenician-Punic colony and then a Roman city, today it is a coastal town with a beach and a historic center that has a special charm.
The coasts have different characteristics: to the north they are sandier and have marine bottoms ideal for diving and admiring the ichthyic fauna, seaweed, starfish and much more.
To the south the coasts are high with dark cliffs of trachyte, which is a volcanic rock and gives it a very special color.
Algunas playas de Cerdeña no tienen nada que envidiar a las playas del Caribe. Son verdaderos paraísos que parecen tropicales. Y que en cambio no lo son. Se encuentran en el extremo Sur de Italia y son únicas en Europa. Tal vez solo comparables con las playas de Tenerife y otras de las Islas Baleares.
Y San Antioco es una de ellas. Fue una colonia fenicio-púnica y luego una ciudad romana, hoy es un pueblo costero con una playa y un centro histórico que tiene un encanto especial.
Las costas tienen características distintas: al norte son más arenosas y tienen fondales marinos ideales para bucear y admirar la fauna ictícola, algas, estrellas marinas y mucho más.
Al sur las costas con altas con oscuros acantilados de traquita que es una roca volcánica y le dan una coloración muy especial.
Portixeddu beach for example is the closest beach to the city and is surrounded by pale green rocks with junipers and dwarf palm trees.
I remember with special affection other nearby beaches such as Turri the largest.
It is also very nice Maladroxa, which has a long beach of fine gray sand and a seabed from which thermal springs emerge, already exploited in ancient times by the ancient Roman settlers.
To the south you can see Capo Sperone with an iridescent blue sea, large expanses of pink peonies and the undisputed habitat of one of the protected birds of the area: the queen falcon.
La playa de Portixeddu por ejemplo es la playa más cercana a la ciudad y está rodeada por rocas de un color verde pálido con enebros y palmeras enanas centenarias
Recuerdo con especial cariño otras playas cercanas como la de Turri la más grande.
También es muy bonita Maladroxa, que tiene una extensa playa de arena fina y gris y un fondo marino desde el cuál surgen aguas termales, ya eran explotadas en la edad antigua por los antiguos pobladores romanos.
Al sur se puede ver Capo Sperone con un mar azul iridescente, grandes extensiones de peonias rosas y el habitat indiscutido de una de las aves protegidas de la zona: el halcón de la reina.
