EMMA AURORA, The Martyr / drawing step by step | by @christopherb

EMMA AURORA

Hi steemians:

A couple of days ago I started to see different documentaries of the First and Second World War, in addition to the different warlike conflicts in which the world has been involved, and as a result of this marathon of documentaries and films on the topic, it emerged in me the need to draw.

I wanted to design, then, an original character to represent the warriors who die in this type of conflict, those poor souls who left our world to defend their beliefs. Fact that makes them Martyrs.

Step by step

1. This time I wanted to do something different. I drew the entire sketch with my blue pencil, on a sheet of paper.

2. Then I took a picture of it and put it into my drawing program. I improved the contrast and brightness a little to make the lines clearer.

3. Then, I cleaned the sketch with the lineart and leave it ready for coloring.

4. I decided to start coloring by her skin.

5. I continued to color her hair and lips.

6. I decided to continue coloring her sweater.

7. I kept coloring her jacket and hair bun.

8. I decided to continue coloring the withered flower (which represents the death of her young soul).

9. Finishing the process, I colored the background.

10. And finally, I added my signature in the drawing.

As final result: The Martyr.

For the curious, Emma Aurora was a 21-year-old young student, belonging to the country Seron (Original Fictional Country), who had been pursuing a career in law in her neighboring country Iblacomo (Original Fictional Country) since she was 18 years old. Unfortunately for her, with only 2 months remaining to culminate her career at the Central University of Iblacomo, both countries started a war. The countries had maintained a good relationship, despite having different political ideologies, but everything had come to an end due to an Iblacomo attack carried out in the Capital of Seron, killing more than 79 people. From then on, Iblacomo would start a campaign of hatred towards Seron, and Seron would defend himself by attacking in the same way.

Before this war broke out, relations between both countries were on good terms, so a large number of Serones were studying or working in Iblacomo, just as a large number of Iblacomos were working and studying in Seron, being involved in a big problem when starting the conflict. Iblacomo citizens, students and workers within Seron had nothing but slight acts of Xenophobia, while in the country Iblacomo, Seron residents were tortured and brutally attacked by the Iblacomo military force.

Within that group of Serones citizens was Emma.

Emma was sent to a concentration camp by the Iblacomo military, where she was tortured and held for 3 months. He died of tuberculosis due to the rigorous work in the rain, to which they were subjected. According to her fellow surviving Serones, Emma defended her homeland and nationality to the end.

After his death he was recognized as a Martyr, among his fellow citizens.

In my science fiction and adventure stories, I always try to maintain a realistic and raw atmosphere, allowing myself to present the viewer with the true face of pain and suffering in war. That is why I try to read articles and watch documentaries about the different warlike conflicts that have occurred in the world throughout the years, as much as I can. I hope you liked this character and his story a lot, I really liked the end result and, as always, I would love to hear your comments. A big hug!
