In these rural areas, poor menstrual hygiene is one of the major problems most ladies face due to menstruation being seen as a taboo and they are being considered as impure.

Another cause of poor menstrual hygiene is poverty and lack of clean water and sanitary pads, they tend to use materials (ankara) during their period and end up being infected.

Today, we sensitized young girls in Oke-Onigbin, Kwara state, secondary schools on Menstrual and ovulation cycles/ Menstrual health and hygiene management. It might interest you to know that in all the secondary schools in the community not one girl know about the word “Ovulation”. As funny as it may sounds, it’s actually appalling.

Hence we went on to sensitize them against having sex during their ovulation cycle and the consequences that fellows.

It was an interactive talk, where most of them were shy to speak up of the challenges they are facing as girls, I had to advise them to write them down and just pass it out to the speakers.

In the end, we all learnt something new today..!!!

All Glory and honor to God almighty who made the project a big success🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️
