@eos.detroit has been working as a block producer for the EOS network since the Main Net went live in June of 2018. Before that, the team members were active in many blockchain projects and working to prepare themselves for the EOS launch.

After some time, a project named BOID was released on the EOS network. BOID uses the "spare" resources on your computer to solve complex mathematical problems for the World Community Grid. By splitting these work units into smaller pieces and distributing them to the end users they have effectively built a worldwide supercomputer.

If you have been following me, you know that this isn't the first time I have talked about BOID in one of my posts. In fact, I have been using BOID since the very launch of the project and I participated in the alpha and season 0.

I hate to break it to you, but this also will not be the last time you hear me talk about BOID. Due to my ongoing commitment to the BOID project and my loyalty to team EOS Detroit, I was recently brought on as their BOID Team Leader.

It is no secret that in addition to helping solve world-wide problems, you are also mining the BOID token. As you mine BOID, you can stake it thus improving your ability to mine more BOID tokens. There is a global leaderboard and the teams also compete for prizes.

Season 4 of the BOID mining project starts on April 27th and there are a couple of things that make this season really special. The first is the fact that the work units in season 4 will deal specifically with researching the Covid-19 virus.

Secondly, BOID is introducing something called the Season Pass which will allow you to make some donations before the season launch, which give you the chance to earn special benefits and rewards throughout the season.

If you had an EOS account during one of the snapshots, you probably have BOID tokens and you don't even realize it. Now is the time to act and stake those tokens (at app.boid.com using Scatter) before the season starts on April 27th. Given the focus of season 4, I expect the future to be really bright for the BOID token. They are also working on a DAC that should bring more value to the token as well.

In the coming weeks I will be announcing team specific prizes that we will be distributing throughout the season. You don't need a server or powerful computer to run BOID. They have clients for Windows, Linux, and Mac that can run on all manner of devices. Every little bit helps and no contribution is too small.
