I would like to share a motivational story with you all about "INDICATIONS AND SIDE EFFECTS" as a lesson in our ddaily lives.
Have you ever read the packaging of a medicine? Lots of information recorded there such as composition, dosage, validity period, and so on. Today we focus on discussing two of them.
First is the indication, namely the usefulness of the drug. In other words, what we intend to take the medicine for. For example a drug that contains paracetamol, written there an indication to relieve flu symptoms.
The second is side effects, namely other conditions that arise due to consumption of the drug. In the example of paracetamol above, we will find information that the side effect is that it can cause drowsiness.
So, indications and side effects are both results that occur after the use of the drug. But keep in mind, we take drugs because of the indications, not because of side effects.
Someone who drinks paracetamol, of course, aims to cure the flu that he experienced. It is wrong if he takes the medicine to be sleepy.
In everyday life, we can take examples like people who are eating. What are the indications for eating? Namely providing nutrition to the body. What are the side effects? Ie full.
That is why we must eat with a good nutritional composition, because that is the goal. Not just full. I often meet mothers who feed their toddlers only with plain chicken porridge which is given soy sauce! No chicken at all.
According to the mother, her child can already be called eating because the portions are already filling. Even though there is no protein, fat, vitamins, and other nutrients. Only carbohydrates.
Mother like this to feed her child just to get side effects, but the real purpose he ignored.
If that happens in the medical world, it can be categorized as drug abuse. Examples of drugs such as codeine, morphine, doctors prescribe to reduce pain in certain chronic conditions. But the side effects are hallucinations and pleasure.
People who use these drugs illegally only to get side effects, can be called drug abuse or drug abuse.
At this point, do you understand the difference between indications and side effects? In summary, indications are goals. And every goal has side effects.
Now we proceed to the discussion about worship. What is the purpose of worship? Namely to achieve the degree of piety in the sight of Allah. Are the side effects of piety? That is getting a way out of the difficulties of the world and the hereafter, as well as unexpected fortune.
For people who have understood the difference between purpose and side effects, surely they can easily distinguish the three information conveyed in the paragraph above.
Be cautious is the goal. While given a way out and fortune is a side effect. Because every goal has side effects.
Therefore just focus our worship with sincerity for the purpose of achieving the degree of piety. To reach His good pleasure.
Do not let our worship solely to get side effects, but the true purpose is ignored.
