ArtsyFunai was founded by Eze Joseph ( @artist-freepae ) in August 2019, he partnered with Frederick Okoronkwo who joined him to bolster the vision and mission of the firm.
The sole aim then was to help promote artworks made by Fine Arts students of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State which is gradually spreading across other artists within Nigeria.
ArtsyFunai coined its name from the school it originated from; FUNAI ( Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, currently known as Alex Ekwueme Federal Ndufu-Alike Ikwo )
ArtsyFunai as an online gallery helps in increasing the visibility of artists and their amazing artworks.
As the operations of rebroadcasting of artworks started, ArtsyFunai realized the need to curb the unavailability of art materials which is majorly affecting some eastern part of Nigeria.
In March 2021, they launched their art store which had numerous art supplies (sketchbooks, paint brushes, canvases, acrylic and oil colours, graphical tools and materials etc.) all in stock.
The art store however wasn't stable due to financial constraints, imprompt management and halt in academic activities in schools due to the ASUU strike.
ArtsyFunai from an engagement perspective aims at organizing art exhibitions which will be open to all artists nationwide.
We really hope to achieve a lot with this firm, from online gallery, to art supplies, exhibitions and merch stores.
This is just a brief intro about ArtsyFunai, this post will be regularly updated as more changes/unreleased plans takes place.
