Daily Drawing Challenge: Day 14 - Beauty.

Hi! I hope everybody's doing well.

It's a pleasure for me to show you a little bit of my art through this impressive platform, which gives us all the opportunity to express ourselves in the best way possible, each one showing all the potential according to their talent, which I think is impressive to see and be part of.

I share with you this week this illustration that I recently made of these beautiful blue eyes, at the exact moment that I found the Pinterest photograph I simply could not stop using it as a reference for this drawing. The photo is by Slava_kushvalieva and can be found on her Flickr website . Personally I enjoy so much drawing faces, in fact it's my favorite thing to draw, however this time I decided to recreate only the eye part.

All my illustrations are made with colored pencils, also with some markers for some details I want to highlight and paints only for more complex backgrounds. I hope you like my illustration, soon you will be able to see more of my art.

The Making Process

  • As a first step to make my illustration will always be, of course, to capture with pencil all the part of the face I chose to draw, which in this case will be only those shocking blue eyes. Then, once I have a good base I can start applying the color.

  • Now in the next image you can see how I applied the color on the skin in a very soft way to create a kind of base first which I will keep working on, I also applied a very soft pink color on the eyelids and a combination between grey and brown on the lower lash line to give a little intensity to that area.
The next step was to do the eyebrows, for this I used pencils with very thin points to be able to trace hair by hair and to obtain a more realistic effect. I also gave a touch of color to the cheeks very similar to the one I applied to the eyelids.

  • I continued working much more on the eyes intensifying the shadow on the eyelids, giving light and shadow where needed; I also drew the whole part of the eyeball trying to make it look as close as possible to the original photo. With a fine point marker I made all the eyelashes; in the part of the cheeks and nose I worked more on the color and in that area I drew all the freckles in a very subtle way. I decided to make with white paint the branch on the model's face because I liked the contrast with the tanned skin tone.

Final result

  • Finally I noticed that the skin was missing a little more tan, so I worked on it. I gave the final touches of light and shadow in some spots and finished filling the branch that falls over the eye.

Today I decided to join the #DDC which is a 30 day drawing challenge with the principal objective of motivating us to be more creative on a daily basis, learn to draw faster and get better as artists. However, you can join this challenge the day it catches your attention and you like it the most; always using the tag #dailydrawingchallenge. Today's theme is - Beauty - and for that I drew these dramatic blue eyes. I hope you like my work!
