I needed a snake print in my next illustration for a dress and because i always choose making thing my own way rather than plagiarism so here is how i made it .
First of all i sketched some random pebble shaped squares on a paper with a pencil . Then imported it in medibang pait pro app on my phone started making linerart with a pencil brush and deleted the paper sketch.so this is how the line art looked .
Next step was making the snake pattern so as you guys know snakes Have a very zig zag diamond shape pattern on their scales and thats exactly what i will be doing here. First i hid the lineart layer added a new layer selected a marker brush made zigzag wiggly lines and drew random diamond shapes on them
After that i resized it and filled the whole canvas with it
Next i unhidd the lineart layer filled the whole canvas by resizing and duplicating in just like pattern layer. Kept it on top of pattern layer and i just set the line art layer on divide and it looks like scales and the highlights off them .You can either set the lineart layer to divide in layer blending modes or u can set it to over lay both ways the layer will have lineart of scales showing on top of the pattern layer either in black or white.I saved the file as Png Transparent . But since i want pink fuchsia and magenta type of snake print .
So i imported it back on another canvas added another layer on top clipped it filled the layer with a solid color and some rough texture set the layer to color in layer blending mode and its opacity at 58% . This is how the pattern looked after wards but obviously its not fully done .
This is the Final step i added rough texture with water color rough brush .i drew diagonal lines with maroon and magenta shades . Clipped the layer set it to overlay in layer blending mode and this is the Final results .
