The Mountain Bluebird sports a striking shade of light blue which is one of the characteristics that drew my attention. I felt this time around, the bird needed to be the focal point in the illustration!
PROCESS!
Materials: Winsor &Newton watercolor & brushes, Reeves gouache paint, Sinoart sketchbook.
I made an extra effort to plan the drawing of the hair better this time
I applied a light wash of cerulean blue for the first layer of the bird before proceeding to paint a thicker layer of marine blue over it
The hair was my favorite part to paint, I started with a light layer of orange whilst making sure to leave blank spaces which would serve as highlights! After this, I used a small bristled brush to add the little details!
