Here's a quick sketch inspired by a great movie I've seen recently. It's probably one of the best I've seen in the last decade. With Tom Hanks and the young Helena Zengel it tells the journey of a news teller in the far west who finds a young girl who has been isolated after Union troops chased out the Kiowa tribes. The girl is of European origins but was raised among the natives (spared in a vengeful raid) and is therefore used to their habits and customs. The man takes it upon himself to take the girl to her surviving relatives and thus begins a journey full of adventure. A film with a wonderful setting and themes: from the aftermath of the Civil War, to "civilization" up to the problem of exploitative entrepreneurship, a story (based on a novel by Paulette Jiles) that retraces the paths of the past, perhaps also to investigate the future. Definitely worth the view!
