Andrew Forrest Sues Facebook Over Fraudulent Crypto Ads

Australia's second-richest man has filed a lawsuit against Facebook over crypto-related ads using Andrew Forrest's name. If it's in the Philippines, Manny Villar seems to be the equivalent of this man even though the source of their wealth is from different sectors. Forrest’s source of wealth was from mining while Villar's was from real estate.

How about cryptocurrency? Is there any Filipino who can be included in the rich list whose wealth comes from crypto like Changpeng Zhao of Canada and the UAE, Michael Saylor of the US, and Song Chi-Hyung of South Korea?

Recently, Andrew Forrest sued Meta for allowing social media to run deceptive ads saying Forrest endorsed crypto projects. According to the case, more than 1,000 misleading ads appeared on Facebook in Australia from April to November last year. Because of this, many Australians lost money.

I then remembered my experience last year. I have also seen many crypto ads on Facebook that are misleading, which I suspect are phishing sites. There is one linked to PancakeSwap. Fortunately, I tend to bookmark the legitimate sites I go to. I noticed that only one character was changed in the URL. The sad thing is that many people on social media are not careful so they fall victim to these scams. Because of such experiences, I realized that Facebook does not care about the security of its users. What matters to them is that the ads pay.

How about cryptocurrency as source of wealth?

Ayon sa kaso, mahigit 1,000 misleading ads ang lumitaw sa Facebook sa Australia from April to November last year.
