Yesterday was our 12 year anniversary.

For us its very important to celebrate our wedding anniversary. But Oh my word, I cannot believed it but both of us totally forgot our anniversary. For me our anniversary is more important than my birthday. Your birthday comes on its own, you will get a year older every year on your birthday but you just don't stay married. If you want a good, loving and happy marriage you must make an effort and work on your relationship daily. As soon as you take your marriage and spouse for granted things can easily starts to fall apart.

I think we forgot our anniversary because of the lockdown. The days just flow into each other, you tend to forget the day of the week, the date and your anniversary. 😊

It was only when my mother-in-law congratulated us that we remembered. So yes normally we would make a big thing about it. Both of us were red-faced, about forgetting, it was lockdown how were we going to celebrate? All restaurants are closed and we are not allowed to go anywhere.

Hubby got out of the daze first and said we will be having an English breakfast and start to make it. I am a lucky lady as he almost everyday makes breakfast or lunch. He is a modern man as he helps with most household chores.

So the rest of the day we were out of sorts. Since we moved to the ocean 8 years ago apart for going out to a restaurant we always go down to the beach and take photos there. We got married at the beach so we made it a tradition to go take photos on the beach like on our wedding day. Due to the lockdown we were not allowed to go to the beach this year.

The evening Scotty barbecued steak and I made roast potatoes and caramelised butternut. So we had a delicious anniversary dinner at home.

We decided this year we will take totally different photos. We will take photos in our pajamas and we will always remember that was our anniversary 2020, the year of the lockdown. So off we went after dinner.

We were in a silly and fun mood. We started to take some selfies and had lots of fun and laughs. The rest of our evening was beautiful and romantic.

So in the end we had a great 12th year anniversary despite of the lockdown. Once again we confirmed our love and commitment to each other and our marriage. A day of celebration of your love can help to heal past hurt and strengthen your relationship.
