Hey there, this my entry to this week’s inkwell prompt. Please enjoy.
Joseph sat on his table with his lit cigar in his mouth, he was always focused anytime he picked up his pencil. He stared at his canvas, his interview with Warner Bros was the only thing he could think of, this was the opportunity to present his ideas to the creativity team and encourage them to give Annabelle: The Berserker a chance to air in their next action animation category. He personally loved the character from a very young age, he went through high school sketching her in all his textbooks and drawing pads. He knew that she deserved an opportunity to be aired as an animation. The comic had just been released weeks ago and he knew it was now or never, because he had sold thousands of copies and the editor for Warner Bro was on his phone asking to hear from him so this was definitely a step in the right direction.
Annabelle held upon her bow as she ran with a high momentum due to the huge tiger that chased after her with tremendous speed and agility, she insisted a tranquilizer into arrow that she drew in her bow and flew off a cliff aiming at a non-lethal spot of the tiger and let go of arrow. She was in the jungle and she expected things like this to happen. Mikky was glued to her uncle's comic book. She was surprised that a man of his age could do something so creative.
She was interrupted by her mother who told her to stop reading on the dining table and eat her food. Annabelle raised her head and said,"I want to be like Annabelle when I'm older". "An Explorer in the jungle looking for a lost treasure with my father's evil cooperation after me to stop me from hiding the great treasure". Her mother laughed and said,"Is that what Joseph comic is about?", yeah right that story is believable, huh"."Each your veggies young lady and be off to bed".
Mikky made a face at her as she picked up the big piece of broccoli and threw it in her mouth. After she had finished eating she ran upstairs and went into her room and threw a blanket on her head and turned on a torch light as she continued to read the comic book.
Joseph sat in a New York conference room as he waited for the receptionist to tell him to go in. He did his breathing exercises as he tried to calm himself down. They told him to go into the office and he took his sketch pads and walked into the conference room. He projected a picture of Anabelle where she wore a singlet with combat shorts and boots with her hands holding an already drawn bow and arrow. He tapped his glasses as he said,"Annabelle is a girl trying to survive the jungle as she looks for an Idol that is said to be a national treasure, but her father wants to sell the idol to an overseas buyer and use the money to run his ammunition company called RavenClaw. She is faced with finding the treasure and returning it to a national museum before her father's goons get a hold of it.She ran away from home at a little age but was accepted by a family of apes that let her live as one of their own".
One of them chuckled," Isn't that Tomb raider", he finally said. The director of the board told Joseph to come back on a later date as the board would review his project. Joseph fell into a state of depression as he thought that the interview didn't go the way that he had hoped for. He went to visit a bar before heading home and mistakenly fell into a dam and passed out.
He woke up for a while and saw himself in a laboratory strapped to a table as scientists of RavenClaw try to close the open hatch in the wall that he had fallen through, this new world seemed very different to him. The people around him had weird voices though he couldn't see their faces, he knew something was off. Joseph was the only three-dimensional person in a world of 2d characters. (Just like Micheal Jordan and Looney Toons)
When he had fully woken up,then he saw a 2d verse of his mad scientist that owned RavenClaw, he looked like a live being and talked to him requesting questions of how got there and why he looked different. He wore a lab coat and an eye patch that covered his left eye. As he interrogated Joseph, the whole facility was alerted about a breach, there was another intruder in the building. All the soldiers ran towards a figure that had entered the interrogation room that wore a hoodie and carried a bow. The soldiers all fell one by one as she knocked them out with her martial arts skills. She scared away the scientist and carried Joseph till they made their way to a save place.
The figure touched Joseph's skin with her eyes full of amazement; she had never seen anything like it. Joseph raised his hand to pull down her hood, she was hesistant but later pulled it down for herself. He couldn't believe his eyes, it was his character Annabelle, that meant that he was in the jungle, he held his hand over his face to feel his temperature then passed out, he was inside his comic. How odd. The dam he had fallen into had taken him to a world that he created for his animation series.
Mikky and her mother had gone to seek help from the police because Joseph had been missing for 2 weeks and nobody knew his way about, they had filed a missing person's report and police tried to retrace his steps from after the interview at Warner Bros. Mikky loved her Uncle and wanted him to continue his work, she had noticed that when she read the pages she had already gone through there was a new character, it seemed impossible. But there were new pages of a character that had become close to Anabelle that had a small resemblance to her Uncle
But she didn't want to sound crazy so she kept her information to herself as she tried to investigate further. She found that her Uncle had fallen in a Lauzarus pit and was trapped in his own version of the Nether realm. He had to decide whether to come back home or live there for the rest of his life, forgetting where he came from. Mikky packed her bag and went after her Uncle.
Time between the two worlds were different. What had seemed like 2 weeks to her, was like 2 years in the Nether realm. She knew that the man she was going to see meant to be different from the uncle she knew and loved but she had hope that she could save him.
She found her uncle in a treehouse in the jungle where they wouldn't be hunted RavenClaw, he looked happy. He held onto Annabelle and kissed her passionately, she appeared to be pregnant and in love but still in 2d form (like a cartoon). Mikky convinced her uncle to come back to the real world and continue his work, she told him that not working for Warner Bros wasn't the end of the world. They both went home and Joseph left his fantasy & temptation behind to pursue his dreams. She became his blossom and muse to channel all his efforts into his work.
