Ikedi, the assistant pastor was suspended from church because he try to introduce new unacceptable trends in to the church. He did not take the suspension seriously . He was trying to seek for forgiveness form the church council all to no avail. He turned his back on the church, he abused the church and called them all manner of names 'old school ; 'expired man of God; uneducated fools; things became unbearably to him, he failed he's senior school certificate examination over three time. he had to change he's faith.
No one really knew how he came to Ikot utok. The people perceive him as a stranger in their midst. Usendia welcome him happily. He saw him as God sent. Some who as come to relieve him of his numerous church activities. Usendia conclude that ikedi was teachable and willing to run series of errands.
Ikedi usendia work together he became assistant pastor and interpreter. His peculiar way of articulating the word church as 'shursh' he cause some laughter among the congregation. He also love singing at morning prayers, The children often called him "craw-craw pastor. " usendia was so happy that finally god has answer his prayers by the first day he met ikedi he saw him as someone who can take over him in he's absence..
The church noticed that ikedi is a green snake in green grass but they were scared to say it out because of being suspended by usendia. Many visitors mistaken ikedi as usendia's biological son,
Ikedi take out the responsibility of doing house chores for usendia and ikopima, he live in and uncompleted church building known as ''Ikenga" in local parlance.
Ikopima was not tired of playing the hostess to ikedi until on day she was able to confront him on how he survives. He smile and say to her mummy I eat idomie; it contains already prepare spices. She spoke to him about eating much starch that her daughter mkpouto will be bring food to him. Ikedi was so glad.
The church ask ikedi to pick a wife so that he could be fulfilled as a man of God. Ikedi was against the advice. As pressure continue to mount on him by the church, he decided to get a wife with he's own due time.

Nora husband was angry so he decide to send Nora packing, Nora came down to the village and started a new life. Ikedi fall in love with Nora and decide to get married to Nora. Usendia crown him as the assistant pastor to his church, Since then ikedi find favor from Usendia and became happy with Nora.
