The Ugly Girl

Suzanne pushed Arthur, he looked at her surprised, and asks: _Does it bother you that I tell you that you are more beautiful than your sister?, then she slapped him and yelled at him with tears in her eyes: Don't make fun of me!.

Arthur froze, he didn't know what to do anymore as he watched Suzanne go, she was running away from the park, walking very fast, as if they were chasing her.

They had been a little less than a year, and they were considering the idea of moving in together, but this afternoon Arthur felt that he didn't know her well enough.

The rain did not improve the mood of either of them, and although impatience pressured this young lover, he decided that it was best to wait for a couple of days to see each other again.

For her part, Suzanne cried all that afternoon, from time to time she looked at her phone to collide with the absence of signs of her lover, but in her head she repeated: How is he going to tell me that I am more beautiful than my sister? If here, we all know that I am the ugly one in the family.

Suzanne did not know her father, he died before she was born, and in her relationships with her mother she always preferred Joan, her older sister.

Phrases that seemed inoffensive, but that left a deep and painful impression on her heart, had been engraved on Suzanne.

When Suzanne's mother Amanda introduced them, she always referred to Joan as the pretty one in the family and Suzanne as her youngest daughter.

This did not seem to matter much to her, until one day she heard Amanda talking to her friends and telling them: _I don't know why Suzanne has so much cellulite on her body, I can't stand seeing her show her legs.

This afternoon, Suzanne's unconscious response reopened her wound. No matter how hard she tried to look her best, Amanda didn't look at her with loving eyes.

Two days had passed, and the wait for a call from Arthur seemed eternal, it was then that he felt a deep fear of losing his great love, and decided to look for him.

She got to the apartment, knocked several times, but he didn't come out, that's when she called him, just at that moment he was on the subway and the answering machine picked up, she didn't keep insisting, but she felt her heart break in two.

She arrived home in pieces, as soon as her mother saw her, she questioned her: _Why are you like this, so disheveled? And when she wanted to compare her with Joan, Suzanne overflowed her, between tears and screams she cornered Amanda:

_Why don't you like me?
_Why am I never up to you?
_Why do you prefer my sister?
_Why do not you Love Me?

To which Amanda replied: _Because your dad left me because of you!

Sebastian, Amanda's husband, did not want them to have more children, he criticized her because her body had changed, she gained a lot of weight with her second pregnancy, and he wanted a woman to represent him at the events he attended, and then he repudiated her, and abandoned her, shortly after he died in a traffic accident.

But Amanda hid all that, she was ashamed to say that Sebastian had abandoned her, and when he died she took care of everything as his wife, but Suzanne unloaded her frustrations, not with physical violence, not consciously, but with very hurtful.

After this harsh confession, silence reigned, it had been a heavy burden for Amanda, a truth that had caused her so much damage, and worse, for which she had hurt her daughter.

Suzanne was in shock, but she felt a relief to know this whole situation, even she felt compassion for her mother.

Hours later Arthur called her, and they saw each other again that night, but when she brought up the subject of moving in together, he told her it was best to wait.

Suzanne felt very sad, so much so that she did not realize that her great love was taking a small box out of her pocket, to which Arthur completed the sentence: _The best thing is to wait for us to get married. Suzanne, will you marry me?

And she hugged him, and with a happiness that she had never felt, she told him: _Yes, I do!
