On her school second ceremonial awards day, Flora got one of the best awards as the most intelligent student in the school but she wasn't happy and the reason was obvious. She had just one friend and her other fellow mates didn't want to have anything to do with her because of her facial looks. Her reviews on her social media says she was ugly and didn't look like she was intelligent.
Flora didn't let what they say about her get to her but she couldn't help but keep a moody face when she was called out to front of the school crowd to award her again, she expected it but wish it wouldn't happen. Her only friend tried to cheer her up by taking her out for lunch but deep down, Flora couldn't help but wish she had a better look.
It was the last year in school and Flora couldn't wait to get it over and done with so she could stop seeing the faces that mock at her looks. Just as class was about to start, a new guy walked in and introduced himself to be a transfer student whom their lecturer acknowledged to have a perfect academic record. Every student including Flora couldn't hide the fact that the new student was super handsome, he had a perfect statue and a lovely smile that made the girls go crazy.
Flora immediately wished she could have him for herself as she starred at him walking to his seat. Roan, the new student noticed her stare but turned away to look at a girl sitting not too far from him, she was beautiful.
Flora went home feeling heartbroken that her looks have taken the new boy away from her too, she cried to her mother as she always did. Her mother looked at her for sometime and went into her room.

She walked to her mum still looking sad. Her mum handed a ring to her and told her a story of the legendary ring that had been passed down from generations in their family. The ring of disguise is destined to be used only in dire moments when their human nature can't bear with it.
You will become very beautiful when you put on this ring in your third finger, my mum used it a lot back then.
Flora's mum said with a smile
And when I don't have the ring on, I'll be my real self again? Or is there a way to make it permanent?
Flora asked, so interested in using the opportunity already.
It can't make it permanent but you could put on the ring all your life, it can never be stolen so it shall always be yours
Flora's mum replied.
Flora immediately felt so happy and put the ring in her third finger, she became so beautiful that even her mum almost didn't recognize her. At school, she used all the explanations that could proof it was still her before they could believed. Things changed for her as her fellow mates began to treat her better.
All except Roan loved Flora, she couldn't seem to understand why he was refusing to get close to her. She tried all her possible best to get him to talk to her but he kept withdrawing himself from her. But the more he did that, the more she wanted to become his friend. It was almost the end of the session and exams were in few weeks, Flora felt she would miss the opportunity of making Roan her friend.
But fate helped her when she met him at a convenient store, they both stared at each other for sometime and as she was about to walk towards him, he walked to her with a smile on his face.

Surprised Flora was speechless, she couldn't understand why he said that. She removed the ring from her fingers and looked at him to see his reaction, but he just kept staring at her waiting for her response to his question.
Flora immediately burst into tears and was about to walk away when he held her back. She shamefully turned to face him and was about explaining to him about the ring and her deceitful looks to the others. Roan stopped her and asked that they go out for a walk.
While they walk, Roan revealed his feelings for her and explained why he had been staying away from her, he wanted to be sure of his feelings and he couldn't understand why they kept seeing her as a beauty.
Flora couldn't believe everything that was happening to her until her mum revealed the hidden truth about the ring, "The ring of disguise never deceives a true love".
