A sad life, a happy ending ( Eng / Esp)

Hello Hive, I hope you are well, I am here again. This time I bring you the story of Valeria, who had a sad childhood, grew up and became an enterprising woman with a noble heart. I hope you like it.

She was born in a very poor neighborhood in Vera Cruz, Mexico. Her mother Natalia had seven children before her. She was a very beautiful baby, fat, hairless, so white she looked like a snowflake.

When the girl turned 3 years old, her mother made the drastic decision to give her to her godmother Mariela and her husband Carlos, they had no children, time went by and they became very fond of the girl, she grew up very pretty and intelligent..

One day Mariela felt very bad, she went to a health center to see what was wrong, the girl was already 8 years old. The doctor ordered pregnancy tests to rule out pregnancy, which were positive, she was very happy, a miracle had happened in her life, a long time ago she had been diagnosed with infertility.

After a few months their daughter was born, they named her Aleiram, which is Mariela backwards, it was the joy of the family and Valeria too, since there was a baby to play with at home.

With the baby's arrival, Valeria's care was neglected. The love they used to give her disappeared. She was assigned domestic responsibilities such as cleaning, cooking, washing and ironing to earn the right to food, a bed to sleep in and the right to study.

She became the house servant. Every night after doing the household chores and school work, when she went to sleep she would cry silently, saying to herself "because my mother had to give me away" "I miss my mother". Time went by, years passed and she finished high school. When she was 17 years old, she was selected to study Education at the university.

Walking through the store she noticed a sign in a shoe store that said "Girls wanted for work". She spoke to the manager, told her that she was interested in the job, and the boss told her to come in the next day at 8:00 a.m. She told her to come in the next day at 8:00 in the morning. So Valeria started working while she was going to college. When she got her first paycheck, she decided to move into a residence and become independent from her family.

It was time to enter college, her class schedule sometimes clashed with her work schedule. She spoke to the store manager to let her know that she could no longer work, as her class schedule prevented her from doing so, her boss was surprised to hear such news, she told her that she would work in her free time.

Valeria became one of the best students of the career, she qualified to give advice to students who were beginning to study. For this academic progress she received a scholarship salary from the Faculty of Education. She painfully retired from the shoe store, she had to dedicate more time to her career. In spite of the years, always when she was alone in silence, she felt a great nostalgia; she said to herself "mother, why did you give me away".

She graduated as an educator with honors and was absorbed by the university where she was studying as a university professor in her area. With her first salary she made a trip to Vera Cruz, her hometown. When she arrived at her mother's house, she entered through the hallway, saw some of her brothers and sisters already men and women and approaching the kitchen she observed an old woman in a chair near the table. The young woman with her hands trembling with nerves said "Hello mother, I am Valeria, your only daughter whom you gave away, but I forgive you, I am not the one to judge you".

Natalia hugged her daughter and with tears in her eyes told her "daughter please forgive me, it was an attack of desperation, I have always loved and missed you. These are your brothers and sisters and this is my humble home".

From that moment on Valeria traveled every year to Vera Cruz to visit her mother and her siblings, carrying food and gifts for everyone. Natalia passed away at the age of 85. Valeria still works as a university professor.
