The world is like a jungle where the fittest survives. In this context, I always feel sad seeing those who can't compete and survive easily due to the situation they found themselves in which is not in their control.
Out of school children are such a category of weaker competitors. Seeing them roam the street while their mates are in school breaks my heart. We have another older group like secondary school leavers who are finding it difficult to proceed to University.
My philosophy is that if a problem out of 100 is solved, it is reduced and it is definitely better than nothing being done. I believe that if I do my part and other like minds willingly do their parts, we may end up taking the problem down by almost 100%.
In light of this, when I started working after my university education, I mobilized about eight friends that I met on campus to come together and do whatever we can to help reduce the problem in whatever percentage we are capable of.
We sat in the year 2020 and came up with the idea of forming a charity group. Few months later, Etohueyi 001 Committee of Friends (Etohueyi 001 COF) came into being.
We decided to be contributing a token of naira monthly. We started this in June 2020 and a WhatsApp group was opened for the group as shown above. We are nine in number presently.
In our annual meeting that was held on Dec. 31, 2022, we decided to reach out to about five secondary school leavers in the form of helping them pay for the registration of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This is the exam written by every Nigerian applicant to the country's conventional tertiary institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and other institutions). We painstakingly search for the beneficiaries to be those categories of children that lack financial support. We will purchase the form for them in a few days and monitor their schedule of preparation for the examination.
After writing the examination, we will offer our support to the successfully admitted ones. We are planning to reach out to other organizations that could be of assistance in this regard. In order to sustain the project, we have finalized on how to invest our fund in a profit generating venture, the profit of which will be injected into the project.
The wider scope of what we intend doing is to help sponsor less privileged students to school, intervene in providing public toilets to avoid open defecation in many parts of my country and increasing the accessibility of people to clean water.
Going by these plans, winning a jackpot will make me a fulfilled human who will actualize his dream of making the world better.
Just as it is now, having money in abundance will definitely change my personal and family financial situation. Presently, what is keeping me going in terms of charity work is my belief that if you can't help when operating in thousands, you won't help when you have access to millions. This is to tell you that I am still a work in progress in terms of financial freedom.
I wish to have money in abundance for the following reasons;
- Taking care of myself and family the ways I want.
- Looking around me and making myself a blessing in one way or the other to whoever crosses my path.
- I am a public affairs commentator and the level of regards given to a public affairs analyst is dependent on your strength in the society. This strength is largely determined by your financial muscle.
In conclusion, money solves many problems when put into judicious use and that's what I want to be known for. No matter how huge the money is, I will make sure I control the money and make it work for me rather than subjecting myself as a tool of the money to breed evil. Bring the trillions (if possible, lol) and see how I change the world as much as I can.
