The Point of Convergence

Aurora Borealis

"Hey, Kid!"

A young girl came trudging through the snow, arms around her self, fully covered in her pink winter dress, her breath condensing over her red scarf, with her long black hair flowing freely with the wind.

"Dad, you should get back inside, It is freezing out here! Big Brother and her — wife..." She said the last part with her eyes rolling to the side. "...have already made dinner for us to all eat."

"Ghad, Kid... you should ease up on your brother's wife, she tenses up whenever your around."

"It is her fault, being so girly and fluffy and, Ugh!" Sticking her tongue out then raising her shoulders while pretending to puke.

"You know Dad, he should have chosen the... other —"

Her face contorted, when she realized her Father was busily staring at the sky with a wide idiotic grin on his face. Her blood rose up making her face flushed, then without warning kick his leg.

"Aw!"

Limping as he walked away, holding his leg. "The hell Kid, that hurts."

"Ya should, listen when am talkin' to ya!" Stomping her feet on the snow covered ground.

"Kid, your accent is betraying you," He chuckled, which made her face turn redder with rage. She tried to chase him around the snow, with arms extended outward trying to reach him, when all else failed she dropped down and made snowballs to throw at him.

Defending himself with both his arms. "Kid, I give up... my coat is getting wet from the snow,"

Huffing heavily, making the air around her face condense. "Ya better get ya'self back inside now... or am gonna drag ya back ma'self!"

"Hold your horses Kid... just give a moment." He stared back up the night sky. "Ain't she beautiful."

She look up and saw the star covered night sky, over flowing with radiant lights that looked like waterfalls coming from the mountains, rushing skywards, covering everything with it's vibrant water.

She gave out a deep sigh and look at her Dad. "You miss her? I miss her too... you know."

"Well, about time we pay her a visit, don't you think!?"

"Dad..."

"Yeah, Kid,"

"You should shave, and dress better — mean take better care of yourself."

"Your Mom, used to tell me that."

She turned her gaze away from the sky and stared at him, which sent chills down his spine.

"Kid, I mean your Mom always tell me to shave... and —"

She stepped toward him, looking up she said with all her might. "You should start dating Dad."

He let out a chuckle, as she turned towards her. "Kid, I am too old to chase after princesses."

"How about mermaids, your a sailor right!? Mermaid — Sailor sounds perfect to me." Her words dripping with sarcasm, with a smirk forming at the corner of her lips.

"You are reading the wrong books, Kid, mermaids kill and eat sailors."

"You are reading the wrong books Dad, mermaids can save drowning sailors and give the kiss that can make YOU breathe underwater."

His shoulders drop in resignation. "I am not drowning Kid, I do know how to float."

"Even so, you look like you need saving to me." Her smirk now in full view, with her arms extended outwards like she is gesturing to the whole entirety of his being.

"Ghad, do you seriously want a Mermaid for a Mom, you know there are witches, succubus and a whole darn lot of other species of the female race out there, even dragons, I think."

Her brows furrowed as she look at him straight in the eyes. "I don't care if you started dating a living fossil, I just don't want you to be alone..." her facial features softened up a bit. "...I can't baby sit you forever you know!"

For some reason her words stung his heart, he gently placed his hand on her daughters head and said with a sincere smile.

"Under this lights, I have never felt alone."

Her eyes widened, the lights seems to converge on her fathers back like wings — no, a lady with her slender arms wrap around his neck and wings of stars, flowing upward connecting itself with the Northern Lights.

A tear welled on the corner of her eyes. She wipe it off saying. "Ghad, Dad you STINK!", then laugh whole heartedly.

"Fine, I'll go get my fishing gear, and tomorrow let us catch some mermaids downtown — you and me, Father and Daughter tag team, no female can resist us."

She grab his arm, "Fine! let us go already... I am freezing here." as she look back at the convergence of light slowly fading back to the night sky, she whispered under her breath.

"I Love You..."
