The Ink Well Prompt #27: THE MYSTERIOUS MIRRORS OF THE CAPPELLETTI FAMILY

Good morning dear readers!
Once again a challenge to the imagination, in which I narrate the experiences with mirrors, inherited by the descendants of the Cappelletti family.

The main image I show is a collage of my authorship (María del Carmen Sánchez).

The free, copyrighted images I used to create it are the following:

Here is my story:

The Morrison family wanted to live on the outskirts of the city. Mr. Albert Morrison was promoted in his job, so he decided to invest the money obtained in the purchase of a house for the whole family.

They visited several houses, but only one they all liked. Unfortunately that one had a condition for the sale: all the mirrors had to be kept in the house. That seemed strange to them, but they all decided that it was a great investment, so they decided to accept that condition and buy it. They put up 25% of its cost, that was all the money from Albert's promotion. They had faith that they would be able to pay the rest in monthly installments.

In the house Albert would live with his children, Mikaela and Charles, as well as his parents Jeremy and Maureen, his in-laws Zacarias and Anna Fiore, and his wife Helen. It was a close-knit family.

Although the house was located in a relatively large town, the place was quiet and wonderful. They had parks, supermarkets and different stores; plus incomparable recreational sites for all ages. They were very excited about the change.

Before settling into their new home, they all decided to inspect and clean it thoroughly. The women divided up the work: the women divided up the bathrooms, kitchen and bedrooms, while the men divided up the garden, library, living rooms, garage and basement. Although they could help each other in any of the areas that needed cleaning.

They went little by little, the house was bigger than it looked. When they started cleaning, mirrors that had been hidden began to appear. No one understood why the house had several mirrors, all beautiful and from different periods and styles. It seemed strange but they were thinking about how they would incorporate them into their decoration because some were on the walls and others seemed to change places on their own, they were mobile........ Something unusual that they would discover later!

The grandmothers, Maureen and Anna, were in love with a Capodimonte mirror, with delicate figures of angels and precious stones, which was at the entrance of the main room. Although it was not their job to clean this area, they decided to take it down to clean it. Oh surprise! Behind it hung a sign that said: to the people who feel love for this mirror will be given another one, please look in the red trunk located in the basement. There Jeremy and Zechariah were cleaning.

Jeremy asks:

-What did they come here to do?-

And they told him and immediately went to check the trunk. There was indeed another mirror, but this one was apparently made of gold and diamonds.

They decided to call Helen and Albert. When they saw it, they couldn't believe it. It was indeed gold and diamonds.

The couple looked into each other's eyes and wondered:

-What do we do with this mirror?

To which Helen replied:

-It's too valuable to hang in the living room. It would be too ostentatious for friends and people who know and visit us. Let's check to see if there is anything extra in the trunk.

They checked and found a black and white postcard, dated 1890, which read:

-To my beautiful and beloved wife Carla, because she always makes me happy. Keep this mirror, it will be useful to our descendants- Signed Gino Cappelletti.

It seemed strange to those present, but they decided to keep the postcard...... Then they would figure out what to do with the mirror.

The cleaning continued. Charles and Mikaela told the elders that they would like to clean the library. It had old, rare literary works that they wanted to see.

They began by carefully removing each book until the mahogany library was exposed. They cleaned and polished it. As they were finishing polishing it, they noticed something strange. One of the vertical panels of the library was moving. They thought it was deteriorating from age. Mikaela, curious by nature, decided to move it completely.

-Look what's here, another mirror," Mikaela shouted.

It's a mirror that changes color, it looks like a rainbow, why is it there or what is this mirror doing here?

They decided to investigate a little more to see what was going on. When the mirror turned color, emerald green, it slid as if someone was behind it. They entered and were perplexed...... There appeared a room, apparently secret, that communicated with the garden. In it they found documents dating from 1878, diaries, photos, money from another era and a curious family tree. In it appears the name of Gino Cappelletti.

The meddlesome Mikaela opens one of the diaries and begins to read it. There Gino narrates the visions and dreams he had about his future descendants. As a result, he never wanted to sell the house. He would leave it as an inheritance to his descendants, with the condition that if they decided to sell it, the new owner would have to leave the mirrors. It seemed to her that Gino was half crazy. He hadn't heard about what had happened in the cellar........Mikaela decided to leaf through another diary.

There Gino narrated more accurately his paranormal experiences, which he had just when he was alone in the basement, and what would happen to his offspring. What struck her most was that she felt alluded to in one of those narrations, and she commented to her brother:

-I was never interested in knowing anything about our Italian ancestors. But with this, I'll ask Grandma to tell me everything she knows," says Charles.

-Sounds good to me," nods Charles.

And they continued with their cleanup.......

Helen, along with her mother and mother-in-law, decided that they would each do their own cleaning. They decided that they would each clean a room. Here they were in for more surprises.... They went through the rooms and each selected the one they wanted to clean. In each room there was a mirror. Each lady had a particular experience....
The mirror spoke to Anna about her ancestors and prepared her to tell the family that they were direct descendants of Gino Cappelletti and that they would receive an inheritance that they would all share.

Helen saw her dead mother reflected in the mirror. She was shocked. Helen cried a lot because she was never able to say goodbye to her mother...... At that moment she was able to talk to her and say goodbye; she was very grateful for that experience.

While the cheerful Maureen sang and danced in the room, until suddenly she saw that the mirror, which is on the hairdresser, began to dance with her...... She remembered that she wanted to be a dancer but gave up her dream for love. At that very moment, letters are drawn on the mirror, which, when joined together, give her a message:

-Start your dream, it's never too late. The whole family will support you.

At that instant the mirror returns to the place where it was.

The men decided to remain united...... finished cleaning the rooms without incident. They went to the garage. Here the grandparents were surprised by a perfectly preserved antique car. They turned it on and it looked perfect. Suddenly they noticed a small mirror starting to flutter through the air. They thought it was a joke, but the mirror always landed in a corner of the back seat and fluttered again until ........ They decided to check the back seat.

One more surprise ....... There, on a piece of paper, there was a writing of the famous Gino specifying, with a map, where he himself buried very valuable gold items. Albert decides to inspect the garden to make sure that this place exists. But they would comment on this finding when all the cleaning was finished.

At the end of the cleaning, the whole family met to talk about the mirrors and the famous Gino...... Each one spoke and detailed what they found. After taking inventory they decided it was time for lunch. There they would continue the conversation to decide what they would do with the findings.

At that moment they all decided that the first thing they had to do was to read the famous diaries to learn more about the mysterious Gino. In addition, Anna proposed that she would make the family tree. The gold and diamond mirror would be placed in a corridor leading to the rooms.

The other mirrors would be integrated into the decoration of the house, in which everyone would participate. And finally it remained to find the exact place where the garments were buried.

It took a month to decorate and move in. Once everyone was settled in their new home, they decided to look at and interpret the garden map. They decided that at the weekend they would all get down to work. So they did and got the jewelry with another writing from Gino, which read:

-When these jewels are found, by my descendants, I will rest in peace.

And then they hear a noise as if something was breaking....... They go to where the sound came from and......astonishingly the flying mirror, which lived in the car, was broken but at the same time a note signed by Gino appears:

-Thank you for being such a close-knit family. I am pleased to see you enjoying yourselves happily..........-
