Dennis was a very wealthy man. He loved to bet because ur made him so much money. Half of his wealth, he accumulated through betting. Very soon enough, he became addicted to betting. He didn't care what game it was or what sports it was, he was always ready to bet.

But his favorite game to bet on was the horse racing game. The first time he had won a big wager was when his friend had bet on the race for two days.

A lot of people would think it's odd that someone with such a large fortune should like something so simple and simple-minded. However, Dennis knew what he liked. It was fun and he loved winning. So much so that he started putting up bets on races now and again. Some bets were easy wins but others were harder to win.

So when a chance arose for him to bet on a race, he couldn't help himself!

it was the biggest race of the century, and Dennis had bet on his lucky horse Stallion to win the race. But this time he went all-in for the game. Because he had been winning too much lately, he decided to go big. He mortgaged his house, his car, and more than half of his properties. to win billions of dollars, was a necessary step for him.

On the of the race, he arrived early to the game. He was dressed in a grey suit and he wore his sunglasses, just as always. When he spotted Stallion, he was already at the starting line. The start signal sounded. Stallion was running fast, so he could feel it. He got into position. Stallion was only seconds away from winning. It was smooth sailing as far as the eye could see. Until..

Suddenly, the other horses started falling behind him. Stallion slowed down to a walk, then stopped dead in his tracks. He started trembling all over, he whinnied softly and pawed the ground. Dennis looked at the other horses that fell behind. They all looked miserable.

"What happened?" His voice seemed hollow.

The person who had run the race before answered without turning around. He seemed angry, which wasn't surprising.

"We lost." Dennis looked surprised at how quickly everything turned bad. "Some stupid idiot decided to use his legs, instead of a good horse.

"We've lost the race." This was not the best response, but at least it meant that his luck was changing and that things wouldn't get worse.

"Who won?" He asked hopefully.

"That's for them to decide. I'm gonna head back to my hotel, try and forget about it." Dennis nodded his head absentmindedly.

He felt numb, he had never bet on any race like that in his life. He tried to focus on the present and not the past.

When the results came out, Dennis had lost all of the money used in betting, as the organizers, scrapped the whole game of record entirely and refuse to refund, as they favored their no return policy against all odds.

it was over, finally, Dennis succeeded in betting his way to poverty.
