THE MISSING PIECE

A wealthy man decided to test his children one day, he wanted to see what kind of people he had been raising.

He always had one question in his mind, if he were to to die unexpectedly one day, what will happen to his wealth and will his kids manage it properly or squander it?

He had four children from the ages of 10 to 16 and fair enough they were academically sound mainly because they went to the best schools in town and they even had access to private tutors, so when it came to academics they were on top of their respective classes but what about real life?

When he was growing up, he did not have access to the plenty things his kids were enjoying today because he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth and every thing he learnt about how the real world works was taught by his poor parents.

His kids were not bad at all but he felt that something was missing in their lives and he vowed to find that missing piece and replace it.

He told his wife about his plan and sure enough she was on board with it because just like her husband, she was not also born with a silver spoon in her mouth.

The D-day finally came, the kids lined up according to thier ages in front of thier parents and before them were different items like a brand new digital camera, a brand new gaming system, a make up kit, a new phone and cash worth hundred dollars, their 18 year old male servant was also present in the room.

I'm sure you are all wondering why i called you here and why this money is on the table, you will find out in a bit but first of all i want you to come and select any item of your choice according to your ages starting with you Kevin (the male servant).

Kevin went straight to the camera and picked it up, then the first child of the family Johnson came and picked up the hundred dollars, the second child Ella picked up the make up kit, the third child Francis picked up the gaming system and the last child sophie picked up the phone.

The man asked each of them why they picked up that particular item, Kevin said that he had always wanted to be a professional photographer but due to the poor financial state of his family he had to drop out of school so as to work, Johnson said that he would use the money to throw a party for his friends, Ella said that she would use the make up kit for beautifying herself so she would look good when she took pictures, Francis said that he loved playing video games and Sophie said that she always wanted a phone just like her mates.

This was it, this is the missing piece that had been missing from his children's lives. They always had everything easy for them and all their lives they did not work nor struggle for anything.

His children's view of life was that all that glitters was gold, they saw life as a bed of roses and that was wrong because if something happens to him tomorrow his children would find it extremely difficult to stand on their own feet.

Kevin on the other hand had been struggling all his life and instead of picking up a an item that would not give him money, he picked up the one that would possibly change his life.

He heaved a sigh of despair, he had lots of work to do if he was going to complete that missing piece in his children's lives, as for Kevin the man put him in a prestigious photography school so he would achieve his dream.
