The Firehorse

Just between the end of rainy season and kickoff of harmattan, the kingdom of Mohab was attacked by series of monsters which included those that were imprisoned by the gods of the land.
During this period of time, all humans were advised to observe a serious kind of sit at home. No movement at all, just because the monsters were infesting people with their chromosomes, turning their minds and habits to work similar to theirs.
As the period of 'sit at home' got extended from days to months, hunger and wants began to set in from one level to the other.
Amadi was among the most affected people in Mohab. He needed food for his family, medicine for his dying father and money to pay back his loans before hand.
The sit at home severed pain and worries on him.
At night, he sneak out to scavenge food from the houses of those infected by the monsters, avoided many tempts and deceptions placed by the monsters.
He continued to do this until he got spotted by the king's watchmen.
He was summoned by the King along with other scavengers.
Before the king were chiefpriests who had gathered information on how to send back all the monsters to where they belong.
The King made promises, fixed prizes and it was just what Amadi needed.
The King in his right mind asked the scavengers to either accept the mission or go back to scavenging, thereby putting their lives and those of their families at stake.
Few of the scavengers rejected the risky mission of capturing the magical firehorse which should scare the monsters, but Amadi was among the determined ones.
The doubling up of the reward motivated Amadi to join other brave minded people in the mission.

They were sanctified before the gods in the king's palace before they embarked on the mission.
Amadi's mind was determined to go extra miles so as to lay his hands on the prize. He saw it as his only antidote for his worries.
While the king was laying emphasis on how and why they must capture the firehorse, Amadi summed up in his mind, all that the money would solve for him.

The seven brave men began the journey on the wooden maze bridge which 4 of them loss their stamina after two days on the long maze bridge, felled into the bottomless valley while the remaining three continued.
They arrived at the fire mountains through the help of the magical compass and they made friends with some wild animals.
Amadi's choice was a white hippopotamus.
He called it Sani. Both parties loved each other and Sani sacrificially laid low to serve Amadi throughout his time in their kingdom.

As the day progressed, Amadi and two others journeyed from one clan to the other with the help of their animal friends.
A time came when the animals came to conclude their partnership with the humans.
"Sani, what's the problem?"
Amadi asked so gently, only to get a sad reply from Sani. The hippo replied saying;
"We can't cross part with the river gods because of anything. We're based on the fire mountains for our safety"
Amadi's separation from his animal friend slowed down his eagerness and agility. His emotions also got tampered with his mission aims and objectives.
He got cheered up by the other two men as they were fast enough to get rid with the emotional scenes.
Amadi worried if he would ever have such friend in his life, even though the friend is an animal.
As the journey continued, one of the men noticed a bright light running away from dark flams.

They chased the light, ran above it through the help of a coconut tree.
They blocked the bright light from the major three angles, captured the light with a transparent bag.
They held the transparent bag so firm, sprayed the chiefpriest's powder over their heads and disappeared from the spot to appear in the king's palace.
The chiefpriests bounded the firehorse to the king's magical staff, making the king the only person to release it when necessary.
On the other hand, Amadi and the other two men were rewarded as promised.
In a twinkle of an eye, the monsters were sent away and the kingdom returned to its standard.
