In an evolved world of birds, the civilized chickens lived in good health and perfect peace. The chicken clan overflowed with drinkable water and abundant food. As they grew in number, so did they accommodate other birds who were either outcasts or helpless.
"It's the tenth year of independence and freedom from the dubious leadership of other birds", chief Cockerel began to address the assembly of chickens and other birds before him.
" A day to celebrate our victory from the mistreatment dished out to us while we birds were all a single entity. A day, to celebrate the effort of our fallen heroes". At the mention of "fallen heroes", they all gave a moment of silence in accordance to the respect for their heroes passed.
"Even though we got what we didn't deserve in the past, the chief continued, "I urge everyone of us to shower love on other birds because it is the just thing to do. Long live Chicken City!!", he finished.
"Long live us all", they all replied with rounds of applause to the encouraging speech of their current leader.
The birth of this event was a story that would forever be in the heart of history's book. A story of how the chickens gained their independence. A story that was told to all chicks in memorial of their ancestors. Prior to the very existence of the independent Chicken City, were the times they wined and dined with other species of birds. It was a period of perfect harmony. All birds were a single entity, they agreed to stay so in order to form the greatest bond ever known in the history of animals.
The penguins had their glacier, the flamingos were happily treated inspite of their long frames and the vultures were warmly welcomed without any sign of distaste from other birds. Then politics began to burrow into the bounded bird community. Birds that could fly began to override their feathery counterparts who couldn't.
This grew and advanced into slavery as many birds who lacked, sold their freedoms and birthrights for daily crumbs. Brutality didn't take long to find it's position into this, taking and taking again, large chunks of the love and peace that once existed amongst the birds.
For years, this continued, leading to loss of lives of those who had had too much pain to take. Those who were innocent were the easiest target, encouraging wild bitterness and zero tenderness as a tool of survival.
With too many badness spreading uncontrollably, the chickens were agitated and they rebelled. After years of low profiled preparation for independence by the chickens with help of technicalities from the penguins and other ill-treated birds, the chickens fought for their freedom and reclaimed it.
Back to the current day, every learning environment in the Chicken City, told this tale of legendary victory as they advanced in technology, causing them to be an envious example to other now-divided bird clans.
It's been ten years since the chickens broke off the shackles of slavery and stood on their own. There has been no trace of any ailment recorded in the city even though they housed the dejected of other species. The city maintained strict laws and swift actions in testing for communicable diseases amongst it's inhabitants or migrants and providing curing aid to the infected as soon as possible.
Months after Chicken City's independence anniversary, a strange flu broke out in Raven City - the community of raven birds and few other black feathered lookalikes. This flu contaminated every living thing in the city, causing hundreds of recorded death counts in the first twenty-four hours of it's presence.
While scientists searched for a cure, the flu continued to spread like wildfire, draining life from both birds, water sources and even cultivated crops. Rilo, a raven and father to three eggs which are soon-to hatch, haven heard of the technological advancements of Chicken City decided to travel with his family for safety and with a sample of an infected raven to get possible solution.
His wife, Rina hadn't much of a choice but to give his risky idea a go-ahead. The city has been put under a lock down instruction so the family protected themselves from contacting the flu and snuck out of the borders of their home.
With one final backward glance at the city of his youth, Rilo led his family to the Chicken City which was miles ahead of them in great anticipation to come back soon with a cure...
