The Unsolved Mystery At The Fair.

Her eyes darted back and forth like an amateur thief who doesn't want to be caught on camera as she pushes herself through the busy crowd.

Moving forward, she took a left turn towards a less deserted area before she smiled deeply. A deep sigh left her lips as she hurried on with a huge grin on her face. She knew she had escaped them, and just as she was about to have the victory butt dance in her mind, her leg slipped backward like she was learning to moonwalk from a renowned dead singer whose skeleton is well powered...

Her butt hit the wet ground as she held onto the sharp pain that came with it. With a deep frown on her face, Sophie cursed internally before speaking out.

"Hiyya mate, watch where you are..." Well, she had a lot to say, but at the same time, she'd rather drool at the fine specimen unbeknownst to mankind staring deeply into her soul.

"Oh dear, you do know how to drool well. How about you take a picture, it'll last longer." The fine human specimen said with a chuckle before walking off.

Closing her eyes deeply, Sophie cursed internally again It is a pity the fine ones had to be saucy. Well, I guess you can't truly have it all." She commented before standing up and walking towards her main goal.

Walking forward, she watched her step as she turned left before moving towards the road that led to the ol' abandoned fair. She giggled and clasped her hands together as she moved. She couldn't wait to tell her story when she got back home.

Home? She smiled inwardly as she remembered the look on her parent's face when her friend Daisy and her parents came to pick her up to watch Daisy's elder brother, Aaron play basketball in his new school which was far from home. Though she had promised to stay with Daisy's family throughout the trip, she couldn't help her curious mind.

Daisy had told her that her brother, Aaron said there was an abandoned fair where he studies saying the place was old and abandoned because it was hunted and ever since Sophie heard the word, "hunted" her heart didn't stop beating A trip to the fair so loud that she had to beg Daisy's parents to let her come with them.

Her newfound love for solving mystery took charge of her as she got her backpack ready to go. Her parents knew she wasn't the type that likes going out with people because, well... she preferred literally blowing up the house while mixing different sorts of chemicals together. Ah! Science class is really fun, and as a science student, Sophie believed there was nothing like ”hunted” because science could explain everything, and all she needed was to do her research. Simple, right?

As she walked on, her skin hair stood up like she was in Mars. She looked forward and could see the ol' abandoned fair standing tall. She shook off the strange feeling that took her as she got closer to the fair. Seeing the place was locked up with tons of placards saying, "No entry”, "Teenagers out," and so much more, she couldn't help but feel the need to go in.

After moving around the fenced area, she found a small opening, and she was glad she was small. Taking off her backpack, she threw it in before squeezing herself into the fair surroundings. A smile curled on her lips as she picked up her bag and moved forward.

She glanced at the watch on her wrist and reminded herself she needed to be back to where Daisy's family was. She had told them she needed to get something and snuck out of the basketball court.

As she moved deeper into the fair, she could feel the coldness in her skin, but that didn't stop her. Scientists are brave, and she needed to be too. Clearing her throat, she walked on but stopped on her track when she saw a shadow lurking around. Her heartbeat faster as she scooped down like she was a baby and crawled her way closer to where she saw the shadow.

As she got closer, tears filled her eyes, and with a blink, the shadow was gone. She quickly rose up and ran towards where she was heading to but saw no one. She was sure she saw something but why...

Her mind went blank when she felt a cold hand on her shoulder. Her lips quivered, and her body shook like someone who was beginning to have epilepsy. All the talk about a scientist being brave was nowhere to be found, and without looking back, Sophie found herself running towards where her legs led her.

Her breath was everywhere, and as she ran, her body hit a stone, or was it a person? She didn't know. She buried her head deeply in the sands with tears in her eyes. She didn't have the courage to look, stand , or speak because, well, she wasn't even sure she knew how anymore.

"Are you okay?" She heard someone ask with a shaky voice.

The voice sounded familiar, and she couldn't help but raise her head up. Seeing it was the fine human specimen she had met earlier, she rose up quickly like a wrestler who wasn't going to admit defeat.

"Did you feel it, too?" They both said at the same time and just when Sophie was about to talk, she felt a tap on her shoulder again and the next her eyes saw was the fine specimen running towards the exit of the building. Her legs moved before her brain could comprehend, and she ran towards the exit too, and what happened next was something Sophie never thought she could do.

She didn't know how she did it or how she even got to the other side. All she knew was that she jumped up, and she was able to climb off the tall wired fence made around the fair. And then, she met herself in a crowded area. The same place she had passed like a thief earlier.

With her arms akimbo and legs ajar, she needed no one to tell her that being a scientist wasn't her calling anymore. She is just 13 years old, and being fit is something she has to look into. She knew she had to be more serious with her P.E. classes.

After calming her racing heart, she hurriedly went back to the basketball court, and thankfully, the game was still on.

Immediately the game ended she watched as Daisy went to hug her brother, and then she saw him. The fine specimen was also there talking to Daisy, and she couldn't help but stare.

"I told you a picture would last longer." She heard someone say, and she couldn't help smiling.

"Well, you could have said the same thing some minutes ago instead of running away like a coward." Sophie replied.

"Have you guys met before?" Daisy asked, and Sophie shook her head in denial. "Anyway, this is my cousin, Jake, and Jake, my friend Sophie."

He shook her hands before smiling. "Well, it seems like the story was real. Who would have thought, eh?"

Shaking his hands back, Sophie couldn't help but smile. "Well, any sane person could have."

...and the laugh that left his lips was so enchanting that she almost forgot how scared she was some minutes ago.

Well... almost.
