Stanley's Journey Toward...

The sound of the tick-tock of the clock filled the room, but the time wasn't moving as expected.

"Why is the time like this today?" Stanley wondered sadly.

He had woken up earlier than expected with great enthusiasm for what lay ahead and the time which would have moved faster on other days seemed to be a snail today. It irked Stanley so much that he couldn't stop fidgeting.

Today was supposed to be one of the most amazing days in his life but time wasn't by his side. His mouth opened agape and his eyes strained as he swallowed the scream that was waiting to be let out when he saw that the time hadn't moved much.

"There must be something wrong with my wall clock." He said to himself as he stood up from his bed while bending himself to tip-toe out of his room without waking up his parents next door.

Stanley walked into the sitting room and climbed one of the chairs to take a closer look at the wall clock there.

"Shit!" He spat.

Who did he offend? He wondered. Why is the time not moving?

"Move, You coward!" He screamed with painful tears.

"Stanley?" A voice behind him called.

"Are you okay, Son?" his mother asked in concern.

"The time is not moving, Ma." Stanley said with a gloomy face.

"Oh, sweetheart," his Mom cajoled, drawing him closer to herself. "It Is almost morning and we will be there very soon. Just try to sleep so you can wake up more refreshed." His mother said.

Biting his lip, Stanley hugged his mother tightly as she took him to bed to lull him back to sleep before she left.

The ray of sun that seeped in shined on Stanley's face playing with his hair curls and round face.

"Rise and shine little man." A happy voice rang.

And Stanley couldn't help smiling at the familiar voice.

"Come over for a morning kiss." The voice said playfully and that made Stanley run out from his bed like he was being chased by a buffalo.

"Eeewww, Dad, I will pass on that" He chuckled before hugging his Dad.

"Breakfast is ready, be out in a minute." His dad screamed as he left his room.

Breakfast went as usual with his Mom and Dad being all lovey-dovey and Stanley couldn't help laughing as usual at his Dad jokes and his Mom's unending laughter.

"We need to go very soon. I believe everyone is ready for what today may bring." Stanley's Mother said, giving a closer look at Stanley with a smile.

Some minutes after breakfast, everyone was dressed and ready to move in his Dad's new BMW and Stanley was happy as the journey began. He does admit he loves his Dad's taste in cars and can't wait to get his. Though, he knows getting a car will still take a long time since he is just 6 years old.

The drive to their destination was filled with laughs and giggles coupled with endless music and Stanley was happy things were going well.

Some hours and a few minutes later, the car came to a halt as Stanley and his parents came out.

"Wow, this place looks very good." Stanley commented and his parents could not help but nod in approval.

"You are welcome to the Orches Orphanage Home, we are delighted to have you here. Please, this way." A nun said with a smile.

"Thank you." They all chorused as they followed the nun.

Many children's pictures were shown to Stanley and his parents after their background was checked and approved to adopt a child.

As they flipped through each page, Stanley lost interest and requested to be shown around which was accepted.

As Stanley walked through each door, he couldn't help the happiness that filled him seeing lots of children playing. But, he just hasn't found the one he would love his parents to adopt yet.

So, he moved further looking left and right as he walked. A girl in the corner caught Stanley's eye when he decided to go back to his parents after walking for too long. Her eyes were beautiful like the sea and her face round with a big cheek and Stanley didn't know when he walked up to her.

"Hello, can I play with you?" Stanley approached the little girl with a smile.

"Sure, but don't eat my candy." She answered with a pout and Stanley could not help giggling.

He played with the little girl whom he later got to know as Sam and he was having fun playing different games with her. She is intelligent and loves reading and Stanley's smile grew.

And, when he turned, he found his parents staring at him with big smiles on their faces.

With a deep sigh, he smiled too and it was a fulfilling one as he was ready to begin the journey toward having a little sister. He is ready to taste the love, affection, and care in taking care of someone just like his parents always do to him.
