Miner's Dilemma

Jaden was introduced into cryptocurrency by his friend Cole about two years ago. Cole himself has been in the business for more than six years now. And in all these space of time, both friends have seen the rise and fall of most of these coins, basically the alt coins. But in all they never gave up their desire to trade and invest in cryptocurrency, despite its volatile nature.

One day, as Jade was surfing through the net, he came across this crypto project that promises to revolutinonalise the way and manner investors and the likes see cryptocurrency. They also offer many usecases for their alt coins.

Jade was impressed by what the coin and it's project projects to offer. Every one of these projects usually have a roadmap and white paper. He quickly looked of it as it relates to the project and found it. He then perused the white paper and road map of the project. He appears to be satisfied. That evening he decided to visit his friend for them to discuss the potentials of the newly found project.

When he walked into Cole's room, he found Cole playing PSP games with his laptop. Cole bought the system for crypto trading, occasionally, he uses it to play games when he is bored. It was in that state of boredom that he was when Jaden walked in.

"Cole the striker". "How are you doing?"

"I am fine as always". Cole already knows the voice of his friend and does not even need to look away from the screen or even rise up to know who has just entered his room.

"Let me join you. Ah, you've already hammered the opposing team". "3 nil down! But I will salvage their game, watch out"

With that he collected the pad and they began to play. First, he made changes to his team formation and personnel. He adopted a more offensive approach and the game was resumed. Within a space of five minutes of intensive war on the pitch, he pulled back one goal. The goal was indeed spectacular. He reshuffled again and scored yet a spectacular goal.

"My friend, you are really balling but I don't see you drawing this game let alone winning".

Jaden laughed heartily. "Well, let me see what comes up with the remaining five minutes of regulation time".

As that was said Jaden banged in the third goal, the equaliser and the two friends exploded in a rapturous laughter.

"You've done it buddy!" "I never knew you can game like this." Cole said, dropping his pad in the process.

"I told you that I'll salvage something from this game. Now here is it". Jaden gave out a welcoming smile to his friend.

Changing the topic, Jaden began, "there is something I came to tell you".

"I am all ears. Drop the bombshell buddy".

Ok, Jaden began slowly. "Today, as I was browsing through some upcoming projects from that site you gave me, I came across this project where you mine to gain some points which will in due course, be turned into coins for the project. I've looked at the roadmap and it's white paper and I seem convinced. Please take a look and see if we can venture into it".

Cole collected Jaden's cellphone and started surfing. He read through the project. Then read the white paper diligently. Then he smiled to himself. Jaden was a bit surprised with his friend latest subtle behaviour.

After reading further, he exploded, "please don't pay any attention to this people. "I've just been taken down to memory lane. I've seen this before. This is just a replica of the first project I did when I was a neophyte".

Cole then went into time travel, detailing how the mining app was built with juicy offers made to miners. Everybody was encouraged back then to refer more people to the platform.

He was recruited in the process but lo, when they said the coin will be launched the app crashed, nobody was able to log in and nothing was ever launched thereafter. The rug pull was systematically planned to occur after mining for over a year by the early subscribers. They were satisfied with the traffic and publicity garnered for over a year.

Jaden, who felt that he has seen something worthwhile and profitable after many years of intensive search, felt bad and was speechless.

Tapping him at the back, Cole said, "don't despair, a better one is on the way".
