My Toy Elephant
Mum, why did you throw those toys away? Don't you know that they are my favorite and I cannot do without seeing those toys daily? Tears drilled out from her face making her mum sober and regret parking Cynthia's toys outside.
But you know I don't like elephants and I don't wish to even see them in my life. Just because of these toys, I always dream of all of them making me afraid all the time. Cynthia's mum said with a face of soberness making Cynthia hug her mum but still in a mood of unhappiness.
Within two days, Cynthia just took a stroll to her aunt's house to beg for elephant toys. Martha wouldn't want to release hers as they were also her favorite toys. She has five ranging from small to biggest. Ok, I will give you this baby elephant and in return, you must make it reproduce to yield more. Martha said in childish thought. I accept, Cynthia said, still responding childishly.
These two are of equal ages of 10. Cynthia is two months older. She was so special in the aspect of the elephant realm.
Cynthia got to her house and opened her room. She could not believe what she saw. Was my mom joking when she said she threw my elephant toys away? Bu….t … Cynthia, wake up. Wake up. She said to herself in a surprised mood. She shouted in happiness, laughing and jumping "Mumm…..!!! Where are you? Mummm… Thanks a lot. I can't do without you. I trust you Mum and I know you can always do what would make me happy at all times. She said,
Her mum was in her room pretending to have slept off. She got to her mum's room and saw her resting. As she was about to step out, her mum tiptoed to where she was and immediately grabbed her and hugged her. You know I can always do what would make you feel happy. Your happiness is my happiness and I can never see you sad. Her mum said.
Now, it's night. The way her mum dressed Cynthia's room was extraordinary. She made it in a way that the bulb would shine directly on the giant elephant toy. The baby elephants were placed beside them. As the light was shining, Cynthia, still in the mood of happiness, was gazing continuously towards the toys with a smile on her face. She slept off leaving a smile on her face. Within a few hours of sleeping, she was dreaming about her giant toy elephant rescuing something special to her.
The elephants were out in the dark protecting the surrounding with the baby elephants. Thieves were about to enter the domain and unknowingly to them, the giant elephant was calmly watching. After a while, the thieves tried to steal a metal bed that they have abandoned for a very long time now. As the thieves were whispering, the baby elephants came up for rescue but the thieves saw them being too small. As they proceeded to the gate side of the house, the giant elephant came up and crushed their legs. They all ran each with one leg.
Immediately Cynthia woke up and discovered it was all a dream. It was not too long, her mum shouted, oh….oh…. "These are the footsteps of wild animals. How come we have these in our compound?
Cynthia could not say a word to her mum instead was left in a state of surprise. Does this mean her dream was real? She asked herself.
After two days, she had the same dream and the same thing was what they came for. This time, the thieves made mention of a metal bed that is so expensive that they need money. Cynthia and her mum are so poor to the extent of abandoning her education.
In her dream, she got to know that the metal bed was a gold-made type. It was a very huge metal and can cost a lot of money.
"We need to take this bed out of here to make a lot of money. These people do not know the value of what they have". One of the thieves said. We must take this metal out of here, another one said. After some moments, the huge elephant surfaced from nowhere just to rescue their property. The elephant stood in and fought the thieves. The giant elephant somehow tied one of them to a tree in the compound.
Immediately, Cynthia woke up and went straight to the mango tree very early in the morning. She was so surprised to see one of the thieves tied to the tree as she saw in her dream.
Mom!! She yelled. Her mum came out and asked what and who tied this man to the tree.
Cynthia was short of words as she wanted the thief to respond.
The thief responded that a strange elephant did this to him. Please untie me. Cynthia asked, "What did you do and what are you looking for in our compound?" Did you come here to steal the metal bed?
The thief was shocked to hear this. But how did you know about it? He asked.
Cynthia's mum was looking so strange among them.
Mum… I saw in a dream how the giant elephant and the little ones fought for us. This metal they wanted to steal is gold. Mum…my elephant showed us the way to greatness. We are rich mum. I can go to school now Mum...
Her mum called some of the vigilantes to keep the thief in their custody.
