Hello, Hivers! I hope everyone is having a good week so far! As for me, I have been standing by at home for a while now. I have noticed that my blogs so far have been about places I have been to, so for a change, I am sharing a day in my life emphasizing the usual things I do on weekends.
To me, a slow Saturday doesn’t necessarily mean an unproductive day because chasing after the things that make me happy is not unproductive. I think it’s a slow Saturday because the things I am doing, I do at my own pace- no deadlines. From that, a lot of productivity is actually produced because the minimal pressure allows me to actually enjoy the pursuit and not dread the process.
I wake up early, but get out of bed very late. On a lot of days, I like to start my mornings by taking a dip in the pool. There is nothing like cold water under the sun to wake you up.
Our residences have two pools, today we chose to swim in the bigger one. On weekends, it’s usually very busy because kids are off of school.
On the poolside, there are tables and chairs for people to lounge in. We usually bring activities with us so we can spend more time there.
Today, we brought art materials and a book with us to the lounge. My partner is a professional artist who uses digital media to create, but is now refreshing his talents in traditional art using colored pencils. Meanwhile, I read a poetry book by Elizabeth Grant or more popular for her singer stage name, Lana Del Rey. Generally, we enjoy doing things that we don’t have to rush into and it is a great way to kick off a slow Saturday.
In the afternoon, I went to hang out with a friend. My friend is a photographer and sometimes he calls me over when he photographs for events.
As someone who used to closely work with the photography industry, it’s really fun to be a part of what goes down behind the scenes. It makes me appreciate how much work is actually put towards what we just see as a photograph.
I don’t know much about formal photography, so I felt like I was kind of a liability. Especially because it made me realize how interpersonal event photography is. Doing so, one has to interact with others to give direction or sometimes ask consent to take the photo. However, on the spot, I was taught how to edit photos, so while they were taking the photos, I was behind the scenes editing them. I had so much fun helping out and most importantly, learning.
After the hardwork in today’s event, we decided to eat at a nearby Asian barbecue restaurant. I had a really good time because we got to talk to each other because we were very busy during the event and at the same time, enjoyed good food. I am not much of an Asian barbecue girl, but it was so good and I am glad I ended my slow Saturday there.
Overall, it was such a good day. It was an ordinary day, but I think mundane days are worth talking about as well. I am grateful that I am surrounded with people that make ordinary days somewhat extraordinary. At the end of the day, I don’t seek adrenaline or luxury, I am more than happy with satisfaction like what days like these bring.
